"This place was Awesome. Our guide was also the curator for the house. He was so knowledgeable and spent several hours explaining all the rooms and wonderful exhibits he has gotten over the years. I hope someone will take on this role for the future of this great piece of history."
"We were on a spontaneous trip and driving through. Upon seeing the sign we pulled in here and my GOD! It was worth it, Joyice made this incredible!!!!!!! She is super kind, welcoming like your grandmother, intelligent, knowledgeable about everything in the house no matter what you ask her! Very personable and so kind hearted! The people we were with also were great too since they were inquisitive! What a neat place with rich history and excellent people working there! Thank you! Come by, support it and offer a donation to keep this treasure alive!"
"This museum is a Great place to go to in Suffolk, VA for those who love History, antique, and just simply want to spend an edifying quality time with family members. There is something for everyone there to learn from. The Director/ Curator, Mr. Edward King was the one who gave as the guided tour through out the house. It was a delightful time to be guided by a man who loves what he does there and is very knowledgeable and even recite a historical letter in the mantuary. It is definitely worth the time and money to visit this Gem of Suffolk, VA. I hope the Riddick's Folly museum may be preserved for generations to come and there will be others who are as kind, humorous and enthusiastic in their service as Mr. King Edward and the other lady Sophie who works there. Thank you!"
"Miss Joyice was my tour guide. She was knowledgeable and patient. The building is fun for local and visiting history and architecture buffs. Improvements would start with updating the windows (using a historical repair company). When you arrive, you will enter the tour where it is at. The issue is that those already in-progress have to wait for you to be brought up to speed for that floor. It's fine if the tour has just started in that area. It's not so great when that area is almost finished. The museum should have two tour guides available to help with that. That's what made Miss Joyice so great, she kept it all together. My 90-minute tour took 3 hours because 2 groups joined (one left early) at different times. There is no wheelchair access due to the building structure. There are four levels, and you will visit all of them."
"We were visiting family and wanted to find somewhere with Suffolk history and charm and Riddick Folly House did not disappoint! Lee took us on a 1.5 hours tour (fairly priced) of the 4 story mansion and was able to keep our children who are 10 and 6 engaged and interested. You could tell Lee has a passion for what he is sharing and is very knowledgeable. He would ask us questions and wouldn't even mind answering silly questions. If you are interested in Greek revival homes, carved moldings, intricate furniture, civil war memorabilia and history this beautiful museum will not disappoint. Also, the gift shop had many items true to the character of the home that were reasonably priced. I bought quite a few great items."
