Reviews
"Weight room staff, front reception desk staff and lifeguards are all friendly, helpful and good at their jobs. My husband and I have been going, Monday-Friday, to this Rec Center since it opened."
"Kempsville Recreational center is beautiful. The atmosphere and people are awesome and they have all you need the get a good workout with gym equipment, on the pickleball court or in the beautiful swimming pool. Plenty of parking as well."
"[edited] Once school started, it’s not as busy during the day. Would love to know when the Personal training area is occupied beforehand (online May be?), as kettlebells are only in that area. Whenever you go, the weights / machine area is packed and people are constantly waiting around to use the machines. They should limit the number of people so it’s not swamped with people all the time."
"My family and I have been members for 2 years and while we’ve mostly enjoyed our experience, I’m never going back. Very confrontational guests to include teenagers harassing and following me for “walking too close” to them. Before I know it, I’m being contented on the stairs and then swearing at me calling me all sorts of names. 30 minutes into my workout, I see the supervisor holding back an adult woman who came to confront me (who appeared to be her guardian, if I could guess). While I appreciate the staff’s effort in attempting to keep guests safe, there should be hired security for this location. It’s not the first time rowdy members come to this facility, but I’ve never felt physically in danger for my life until that incident. I shouldn’t feel I have to carry mace to protect myself as a pregnant woman minding her own business. Will be going elsewhere for a more safe workout environment."
"The Kempsville Rec Center was recently closed for maintenance so the shower heads are new. Great pool and resistance pool to walk as well as the walking track on the second floor. The track is unique because it’s painted different colors for different speeds. Work out room on the first floor. I’m a Marine Corps Veteran so I made sure to take a photo of the sign they posted for free admission to Military members on Fridays…great way to test drive the Rec Center before you decide to become a member."
