"We live in Brookland and the closest place for good bread that I know is Bread Alley. 4 out of 5 stars, because 4 out of 5 times it was good sourdough wheat rye. But today the bottom was simply burned. Since the bread is packaged you can't really see what the crust looks like. Still glad that Bread Alley exists."
"Oh 10/10 sourdough baguette for $5. Would go back and will be making excuses to get over to Union Market area for this bread. They also had seasoned/flavored butters to buy, as well as larger loaves. Smells like heaven, no frills, good quality. Follow the mural and ring the doorbell. :)"
"This place is really amazing, absolutely worth the morning track to grab a fresh baguette or a loaf of sourdough. I have tried many bakeries and baking at home, but this definitely ranks in the very top, up there, alongside some of New York’s finest. They also make a great challah on Fridays. Sadly, they don’t make pastries over the weekends anymore (although I was told they may come back)."
"Best walnut raisin bread I’ve ever had, no burnt bitter flavors, perfectly moist, good balance of sweet, tart, sourdough flavors and nuttiness. The baguette was fresh, crunchy outside with great hole structure, windowpanes, and elasticity. Could probably use a longer ferment to develop more flavor but a perfect vessel for butter, or jam or sand which. I came at 2pm on a Sunday, the challah and black sesame bread were sold out but ample baguettes and cranberry walnut. If you love bread, you need to add this into your list of places to visit, you won’t regret it. It’s also tiny, so it won’t take long to visit."
"Amazing bread! To find this place, it is LITERALLY in an alleyway. See an alleyway with trash cans in it? Yes it’s in there. Look for the painted arrows and black door. The walls have words that say ‘bread alley’ and an arrow pointing you to the door. We almost missed it but saw it last minute, so glad we did. The baguette was very good, crispy on the outside and soft inside. We also got a cranberry and walnut sourdough bread which was very good! You should definitely go here if you love bread. They only sell 3 kinds. Good bread!"
