"I’ve pondered posting this for a while, but had an absolutely horrifying experience with Doctor Hamid Nawaz, and would warn everyone against making an appointment. I experienced extreme sexism and misogyny during my appointment. I was in the process of getting diagnosed for a rare connective tissue disease called ehlers Danlos when I sought treatment for severe chest pain, high blood pressure and dizziness I was told that I was young and needed to go live my life. I had to beg him for routine examines. He told me specifically that he was doing them to placate me. He recited a few sentences about doctors who died in the 1800s and told me I needed to learn the history of a disease I lived with my entire life. The same disease that put me in the ICU at 8, the same one that kept me from climbing trees and running as a child. I was so horrified by his behavior I addressed it with his nurse practitioner and was told “He was always like that”. She sat there and allowed him to medically neglect me, despite having severely high blood pressure I had to argue with this man that my pain was legitimate. I told him “Please, I have a daughter.” He had no crystal ball, and I would assume if he could read minds he would be a medium not a medical doctor who can run diagnostic tests to see what his eyes cannot. Later through my diagnostic procedure, it was discovered I had moderate tricuspid regurgitation that he did not even address. He showed up to my follow up disorganized and hadn’t reviewed my results. I brought another person to my appointment with me because I have severe ptsd from living with an undiagnosed connective tissue disease, at my first appointment I told him I was in the process of being diagnosed for. His course of treatment is deadly for cardiac patients with Ehlers Danlos, which he was heavily uneducated on. The Ehlers Danlos Society offers continuing education for practitioners, and it would benefit all of us to retrain your staff with the latest information."
