"I've preferred True Value stores my whole life for everything from getting spare keys made, paint, tools, and even cookware. However my visit to the Fairfield, VA store was completely disappointing! A young man met us at the door and asked if he could help us. I started asking him about primer and immediately he said he "didnt know much about paint" and sauntered off. So, on my own I chose a primer and took it to the counter , asking if it could be tinted for the color of paint I planned to use. The young lady looked at me as if I had two heads, but then said she could do that. The older woman with the bad attitude from the start said nothing to me, but my husband heard her whispering "you can mess that up!" He finally told them if they can't do this to say so, and and the older woman watched us put all our other purchases back without one word to get us to stay. Maybe I've been spoiled by the service I always received at other True Value Stores, but this was blatant laziness and total lack of interest in the jobs they are getting paid for. They may as well put in a TV with Saturday morning cartoons and get a bowl of Fruit Loops for all they are worth. The most pathetic customer service I've encountered in a long time! The owner needs to consider a major overhaul in personnel or there won't be a business for long."
