"Went in with high expectations because of the glowing reviews but was honestly very disappointed. We got both the tonkatsu and miso ramen broths and both were not very good. The tonkatsu broth had an almost burnt, liquid smoke flavor to it that was overwhelming and the miso broth had a very strong tahini (almost peanut buttery) flavor to it. The only redeeming qualities were the char siu pork and the cooking of the egg which were both perfect. Even the gyoza lacked flavor and were mushy. Cant say I would come back even though it is a cool spot with friendly servers!"
"Great flavors! Got the Tonkotsu Bowl with Char Siu. This is our new ramen spot. I was really surprised at this new place on the Hill. I will say that $7 for only 4 gyoza is a little much, but they were very yummy and paired with a nice dipping sauce. I just got to go this time, but will try dine in next time!"
"Don't be thrown by the service/atmosphere ratings. It's a small place (I counted seven tables) and it's an order up front place. The only 'service' is someone bringing you your food. They were perfectly pleasant and yes setting is nice, but the ramen is DOPE. Please check the hours, or (like me) you can come by when it's closed."
"Slurp! isn't the worst ramen I've ever had-- that goes to the deservedly short-lived Kaze in Carytown-- but it's probably the second worst, displacing Foo Dog (but only because they didn't try to be authentic and went the fusion route). I'll start out with the positives: ordering was efficient and the waitstaff was friendly. The atmosphere and decor was great. But the ramen, ugh. I've been seeing other reviews here which said there wasn't enough salt (and this is what prompted me to write this review, unless I really hate a place, I usually won't say anything at all), so maybe management is now overcompensating: My tonkotsu was quite the opposite. It was too salty, which overshadowed what was otherwise a nice consistency. Worst of all, it was LUKEWARM. I've had ramen which was hotter after finishing all of the noodles and letting it sit for fifteen minutes. The noodle texture lacked springy chewiness, though the flavor was ok. Chasu was nothing special. Not bad, not great. The egg was cooked to the perfect consistency for ramen and had the perfect flavor--for a Chinese soy sauce egg, not for ramen! The Gyoza filling was generous and delicious BUT the skin was too thick and dominated the overall flavor. Also, it was fried on two sides yet somehow had zero crispiness. Definitely a let down."
