"EXCELLENT food and service. We went on Saturday night around 17:30. Yes, it was busy and packed but that’s because the food is amazing! Worth the wait. I spoke to the owner and he explained that they make each dish when it is ordered, NOTHING IS PRE MADE or ready beforehand. Fresh ingredients were used in the soups and salads and you could tell everything was just made. Will definitely be back at this spot regularly. Please support local businesses that are actually trying to do a good job and source responsibly and actually make you the food you order. Please don’t expect your food to be out in 2 minutes - this is not realistic if you want good quality cooking. Thank you for a great dinner."
"Thanks to the recommendations of the Northern Virginia Foodies FB Group members, we tried Chay Vietnamese Vegetarian Restaurant. We showed up not realizing that there was a recent Washington Post article about how amazing this place is, so we waited a bit for a table - worth every minute of the wait. Everything we had was fantastic- we started with the fried wontons (A5) and the Chay nuggets (A10) ... entrees were shaky beef with pasta (N15) and Thai basil chicken (M2). Holy cow this place is awesome (pun intended!)! The story of the chef is so moving and inspiring - and the success these owners have had opening the restaurant will bring tears to your eyes. There's nothing like spending your money in support of kind, talented people. Also, they will also be selling their homemade hot sauce, soon, donating all of the money to charity - and this hot sauce is to die for! They have accomplished all of this and it is the first month that they have been open! Incredible. They are going to save a lot of animals (human lives included) and have an incredible impact on the planet with this food. The restaurant is very clean, the staff could not be more pleasant/professional and the vibe is pure happiness. We will be back often!"
"We went to this restaurant for my dad's birthday after seeing that the reviews were amazing. The owner was very nice and was very interactive with us because we came on a nonbusy day. The green chilies were grown in the chef's backyard so they taste so good. The vegetables were amazing. I loved the food and I would 100% recommend you to go there and eat. Especially if you are a vegetarian lover like me!"
"The decor is hand painted murals all over the restaurant, which makes the atmosphere great and we talked to the owner which it's a pleasure. From the appetizers & salad and the main entrees have wonderful favors. Definitely will be back."
"It is so hard to find quality vegetarian only restaurants around here but Chay absolutely delivers. We went to their soft open last night for a birthday and every single dish was fantastic. Our favorite was the caramelized ginger fish."
