"My experience at this restaurant was less than satisfactory. I was excited to try this place as it is advertised as an authentic NYC deli, the bagels and the matzo ball soup did not reflect that. The bagels did not taste fresh and the soup tasted like a canned chicken noodle that I can find at the store for $2. The service was incredibly slow and did not seem to do a good job prioritizing their customers as tables that got there 30+ minutes behind us were getting their food before us. The staff was nice but that did not make up for the hour and a half wait for food. Putting more of an emphasis on timely service and fresher ingredients for their food will help improve this establishment although this will be my first and last time here."
"I have loved Chutzpah Deli for years and I today I brought my parents and everyone was really impressed with the food. Chutzpah continues to be the best jewish deli in the nova area. Their jewish classics are the best, rueben’s, latkes, matzah ball soup. My mom got the lunch special and loved it. Also the complimentary coleslaw is phenomenal. I’m knocking 1 star because the service was pretty bad. Our waitress was overwhelmed, but she toke about 10 minutes to greet us and take our drink orders, and she refused to take our food orders, insisted she had to bring our drinks first. Then she takes our order and we wait. We notice that other tables that came in after us got pickles and coleslaw but we didn’t. So we ask her for some and she replies “of course”. 10 minutes go by and nothing. So we have to remind her and then she brings them out. It felt rude and targeted. Then getting the bill, refills, boxes was a long wait too. A quick 30 minute lunch turned into an hour-long waiting game. Still the food is so good, it made it worth the visit. I’ll definitely be considering take out next time."
"We ordered our first sandwiches when we moved to Fairfax since it's close to our home. During this time we were unboxing our belongings to settle in. Now it's been three months and we decided to eat at the restaurant again. In my opinion our first sandwiches tasted better. Maybe they changed the cook? Our waitress Trinity was great, professional, no complaints. She brought our complimentary cole slaw and pickles in a broken wooden bowl. Also the coleslaw was watered down and esp. the large pickle had bad spot on it. See photos below. I tried to hide the broken part and did my best to find the best angle, to take great photos of sandwiches. I had the "Pastrami in Hero Roll with Swiss Cheese with Sweet Potato Fries." My pastrami was really tough with too much black pepper. The top sauce of the sandwich not good either. Husband had "Combo Reuben on Toasted Bread and French Fries." In his opinion the sandwich is okay too prepared in the wrong bread. We shared one Ice Tea. The food lacks presentation too. Kind of sloppy the way food was served. The food is NOT New York City style, it is just OK. I lived in NYC for over a decade, so I know the difference. I know good food when I see and taste it. The menu is very verbose with too many options over multiple pages for something as simple as sandwiches. The ambiance is not great - to me the interior needs a deep cleaning and the condiments and napkin holder on the table were greasy. The whole environmental style is awful and not inviting to eat, relax and enjoy."
"New favorite spot with a diner vibe with delicious NY bagels and so much more! The menu has a good variety of deli foods to choose from. The staff is friendly and there is plenty of free parking."
"Pretty solid Jewish/New York-style deli. We enjoyed their matzo ball soup and whitefish salad bagel sandwich. Service was a bit on the slower side, but they were pretty busy on a Sunday during lunch time. It’s a good stop if you’re hungry after your Costco run."
