"Crozet has several coffee shops and Mudhouse is one of the best for atmosphere. It has great food options for quick bites (like the breakfast burrito) and the small stage is nice for little events that happen once in a while. It has a great small town feel and gets busy on the weekends."
"Few places make me feel welcomed to bring my toddler son. I had planned to meet up with a friend at a park, but due to the rain, we chose the indoor amenities of Mudhouse. I was doubtful of how long I could keep my son quiet inside, but to my great gratitude, we found a kids toy box, and the barista Sophie, was beyond delightful, helpful, welcoming and kind. Finally, I felt that there was an environment -despite guests working at separate tables- which was at ease with me bringing my toddler with me. The food is delicious (although I'm sad there were no Powerballs today), and my new favorite drink is the Golden Latte. It was an extra delight to get huge marshmellows in the kids hot chocolate. Thank you for a wonderful and welcoming experience."
"The last few times my wife and I were at Mudhouse, the staff seemed indifferent at best. For one of the visits, I asked for no foam in my latte and got foam. In another one, I asked for a specific ratio of milk to coffee in my cup and got a confused look from the batista. In both cases, the coffee wasn't that great. A number of years ago we used to visit Mudhouse in Crozet on a regular basis; we really loved coming here. It has become a shadow of its former self. We will likely not be back. For the record, this is not a Mudhouse issue, per se. It's a generational one. For example, we started going to Burger Bach in Short Pump about five years ago and absolutely loved it. Then covid hit and we stopped going for a while. When we went back, the service quality had dropped significantly. Same poor quality service at the Burger Bach in Charlottesville. So we stopped going to both. Update: There was a NY Post article from 1/9/24 that very well captures what my wife and I have been experiencing in the last 3-4 years: "Gen Z grads are tanking job interviews, struggling to find full time positions: study" Excerpt: "More than half of employers surveyed said Gen Z candidates struggle the most with eye contact during interviews." This is EXACTLY the issue my wife and I have been dealing with in restaurants. The wait staff never make eye contact with us and they just race by our table. My drink is typically almost gone before I am able to get someone's attention for a refill. This lack of desire to interact with customers is the problem, whether it's Mudhouse, Burger Bach or elsewhere. Again, not everyone or everywhere, but definitely most wait staff in most restaurants."
"You need to try a mudhouse coffee shop! The Baristas were super friendly, the atmosphere was quaint, and the coffee was A1. The barista recommended their speciality brown sugar latte which did not disappoint. They also offer bakery goods and souvenir-like merchandise! The prices were also very fair."
"I stopped by today on a trip to Crozet today for a drink and a snack! I was pleased to see such a cute, quaint, brick building in the pictures I found on Yelp, so I knew I wanted to stop by! There were large, brightly lit, cases holding tons of goodies and sweets! I noticed some pretty interesting snacks, desserts, and even sandwiches! They all looked SO yummy, and I decided to go with the mini Strawberry Banana Loaf. The loaf was the perfect size, super moist, and I could taste bites of the real fruit inside. Delicious! To drink I ordered a dirty chai on ice with oat milk which always also delicious and had a great chai flavor! In addition to the crafted beverage, I purchased a Pear Kombucha from a very local place called Blue Ridge Bucha. Everything was super delicious, the employees were amazingly awesome and efficient, and there is PLENTY of ample room to hang out, or meet up! And even bigger perk is after you enjoy your snack and/or beverage you can walk right across the street and take a picture with awesome artwork!"
