"Megan Clingham as the mental health advocate is ineffectual...She does not really work for the client she works for the state...I was in a supervised living situation through Gateway Healthcare and the program director was very abusive..I started calling attention about this abusive staff person within the first month of my living there, despite formerly being on Gateways Board Of Directors, My complaints were heard by deaf ears and I was treated like nothing more than a complaining mental patient...I practically set myself on fire trying to call attention to this very abusive program director including directly from Meg Clingham..she did help me a bit with my issue but I more than made her aware of how abusive this staff member was to other very vulnerable people that lived in the supervised apartment she essentially told me that their issues were not her business...I lived in the situation for two years and then I was finally able to get back into HUD housing..5 years later (after I left) this staff member was investigated for abuse. Meg Clingham called me up and said BHDDH had my name and would like to talk to me...I went to talk to the investigative unit of BHDDH (another joke) and nothing happened to this staff member legally..She was allowed to retire from Lifespan/Gateway with her pension..Many very vulnerable mental health patients who were pretty low functioning suffered needlessly for 5 years cause Meg Clingham failed to do her job..Which is to protect and advocate for people in the system...She is a figurehead ruler only and is just there...RI has no true advocacy for people with Mental illnesses and substance abuse issues on a state level...When something major goes wrong it's nothing but hush hush and cover..So please she is no mental health advocate...She is nothing but another state toady..."
"They're terrible..theyre paid to support the system not the patient, be aware of your rights.."
"Requested their help several different occasions and they never seem to respond in a timely professional manner. At times i was inpatient and never got a response and felt completely violated and once it was regarding sexual assault by an employee in the hospital and the other time my medication was thrown out when they knew i had a license for it. As i cannot eat or digest food. Also had an attorney from this office try to repossess my property being withheld by riverwood mental health agency which has to be the be the biggest joke of all mh facilities, and she fought them for eight months and could not retrieve a $400 air conditioner and $200 gas grill. I suggest maybe disability law instead of getting poor services here."
