"I have a rare immune deficiency and Dr. Azar is supposed to be the expert in this. I knew that I had exhausted all options and wanted to start immunoglobulin infusions. I pushed for this from the start and for 3 years before giving up as he loved to gaslight and make useless suggestions for things that I had already tried. Every appointment he would tell me that we have to wait for things to get worse before starting the infusions. I was having infections within two weeks (maximum) of stopping antibiotics. I don't see how that gets any worse, other than having to be hospitalized for it. I went to a new immunologist who told me that the earlier you start infusions (the higher your IGG) will translate to a higher life expectancy. This immunologist also identified and diagnosed me with another deficiency. The infusions can take an average of 1 year to work, but it has been about 6 months and I feel so much better. The receptionist Tammy is the star of this office and is the only redeeming person in it. She was very helpful and kind."
"I had a terrible experience simply trying to schedule an appointment. They made me get a referral from my primary care doctor when my insurance doesn't require one (caused me to pay a copay and wait until I could get an appointment). I did that, faxed them the info, but they didn't get the fax because they have the wrong fax number on their website. When I mentioned this to the scheduler she tried to make it seem like it was my fault they didn't get a fax of the referral. I told her I had been trying to schedule an appointment for over 3 week and she was unsympathetic. I've decided to go to an allergy specialist with a better ranking. Made the appointment today with none of the hassle!"
"Both the office staff and doctors are amazing. We waited 6 months to be seen by Dr. Woods and it’s so worth it. He takes his time and answers all of your questions. He’s very knowledgeable and passionate about his job. Dr Alvarez is also amazing. He made sure to follow up with a phone call and thoroughly answered all of my questions."
"I am so disappointed in this center. I mean, it really does not live up to the Johns Hopkins name. After waiting 6 months to be seen, on the day of my appointment the immunologist saw me for less than 10 minutes. She didn’t do any blood work and had the audacity to diagnose me with idiopathic hives with no testing. She gave me two options – a pill that causes hallucinations and another that has shown to increase your chances of getting cancer. I opted out of both and asked for allergy testing. The doctor told me that allergy testing would do me more harm than good because the test may give me a false positive and make me think I am allergic to something I am not. What??!! I am completely baffled. How do you diagnose a patient without ANY testing? What motive does a physician have for denying a patient an allergy test? How does knowing whether or not I am allergic to something hurt me? I am sorry, but this “center” provided me with the worse experience I have ever had with a medical professional. They are obviously in the pharmaceutical business and are not interested patient care."
"If I could give negative stars, I would. Their requirements for new patients to get scheduled are absurd and time consuming. After 4 separate attempts by myself, as well as my physicians, I have been unable to schedule an appointment to be seen. They fail to pass along information regarding their policies and procedures, making it nearly impossible to provide what they require. Despite my physicians continuously informing them that my condition is life threatening and emergent and providing the paperwork they ask for, they still can not get their story straight on what is needed in order to be seen."
