"We’re fortunate to commission Modern Masonry Design to build a wood burning fire pit and circular seating area. Once in a lifetime project. We couldn’t be happier with end result. A piece of art. We had them flagstone our 24 year old front walk at same time. Initially we started looking at outdoor fire pit kits and cultured concrete designs. But, once we saw Mottern Masonry Design’s design and workmanship, we were sold. Obviously this all natural stone and hand cut granite is more expensive. But, the finished product speaks for itself. Custom built to match our existing landscape and hardscape. It takes at least 3 solid days to make it. We had a crew of 6 working on both fire pit and walkway. Every stone is hand cut from big chunks of rough granite stone. Every piece is angle cut on 5 sides to the counter of the circular wall. The pieces fit so precisely, there is no joint to grout. The craftsmanship is something from another time and world. The crew worked 3 solid days. I don’t think the diamond edged saw blade ever stopped during the eight hour day. Crew showed up promptly early a.m. and worked through day very efficiently. The fire pit has gravel and drainage at the base. The designer recommends using a stainless steel liner to minimize smoke and protect the masonry work. The liner can accommodate optional cooking and grilling accessories I cannot wait to cook my first tomahawk steak on it. They thought about everything. Very happy with the design, craftsmanship, quick turnaround, execution, and cleanup."
