"A dining gem located in Del Ray, Alexandria with All day Breakfast! I went for their Brunch and was thoroughly impressed. They have some typical brunch style foods but with their own unique twist and the portion sizes are huge! This is honestly one of my favorite restaurants in the area for so many reasons; they have delicious American comfort food, great service from the friendly staff and the owner Matt was very nice and came to check in on us a few times. The restaurant is a family style restaurant, they have booths making it kid friendly but it is also very modern and aesthetically pleasing making it cute for dates as well. Their food presentation is exceptional and the food is served on vintage cutlery. I also love that they have an extensive mocktail menu and the drinks are really pretty too! What we had: APPETIZERS: Seafood Dip - Crab, Shrimp, Spinach, Smoked Cheddar, Parmesan, Rustic Bread M + T Jumbo Wings - the chefs selection of the day was Jerk Wings. These wings are really big and I love how they rotate the flavors daily so it’s always a surprise when you stop by. ENTREES: Chicken & Waffles - Crispy Chicken, Mikes Hot honey, Molè syrup, Spiced Peacans Cornflake Crusted French Toast & Chicken - Thick Cut Brioche, Maple pecan Syrup, Berries & Crispy Chicken DESSERTS: Strawberry Shortcake - Seasonal Fruit Shortcake Sweet Potato & Ricotta Donuts - Cinnamon Sugar, Salted Caramel Sauce. DRINKS: Rosé Mule - vodka based Pushing Daisies - gin based Sunset Spritz - N/A Buckless Mule - N/A They also have gender neutral restrooms which are kept clean. They have street parking available as well, not sure if it’s free or paid."
"Overall, I loved the place. The Seafood Spinach Dip was delicious and it was the perfect size for 2 day daters. My wife enjoyed the French toast and it came with blueberrys and Walnuts. I ordered the shrimp and grits and that was delicious as well, however I will say that I wasn't a fan of the sausage. It didn't seem to have much flavor. The St. Germine Spritz was also very refreshing. We had a great time. Looking forward to visiting again during dinner and having a few drinks!"
"Occasion - Second visit but first for Sunday brunch. My 2 best friends and I had a reservation (definitely recommend) for noon on Sunday and were seated about 5 minutes after we arrived. Both times I went the restaurant was packed with patrons and they don’t have a designated waiting area so that is something to keep in mind. Food - Like my previous visit the food was delicious. And although the restaurant was packed, we did get our food fairly quickly. I even asked our server to hold off on putting our entrées so we can enjoy our appetizers for a little longer. The seafood dip is very good. However, since I last came, they added crab as it was previously shrimp dip but they’re both delicious and I did ask for extra bread this go round. I also tried some of my friends, short rib mac & cheese. And although the macaroni consistency isn’t what I’m used to I did enjoy the flavors and feel the short rib and the mac complemented each other well. I had the country fried chicken for my entrée and I substituted eggs for a biscuit. It was a hefty portion and I ended up taking leftovers home and overall I will give my dish a four out of five only because I wish the actual chicken had a little bit more seasoning . By the time dessert came, we were all almost full so we shared the sweet potato and ricotta donuts, and they were great. I also enjoyed the red sangria which was perfect for brunch in my opinion. Service - My only gripe is that I wish our service had been a little bit better. I do understand the restaurant was busy, but there were a few times that we had to repeat ourselves when it came to water for instance, and they were a few occasions where I felt she was bothered by some of my asks. The other staff we encountered were pleasant and I’d return to this restaurant again."
"Friends and I went here for brunch and it was good. I would recommend making a reservation because it’s a very popular spot especially on the weekends. Prompt, professional and decent service but I would have appreciated if my friend’s waters were refilled next time and not just the ones closest to the waiter. Food - it was overall good. We had breakfast items since that’s what they are known for. My friend mentioned the quiche was a bit small for the price and I would agree with that. I would come back again but try something different for sure. The vibe was great too. It seems like people come to be noticed and eat great meals."
"A one and done experience! My party of 9 was really looking forward to brunch at Matt and Tony's and what a MAJOR disappointment! 30 minutes in and no drinks other than water. We noticed that the majority of tables appeared to be in the same state. When we finally got our waitress, after repeated inquiries, we put in our drink order and food order together because we are SMART! I ordered the pecan old fashioned and it was an old fashioned with two plain pecans floating around. I wish I had ordered the smokey one. The coffee drinkers said their coffee was warm, not hot The Skillet dish was the one the majority of us ordered and it was the worst skillet we have ever tasted! First, there were inconsistencies with each one. Some had less meat and potatoes or more eggs than others. All of them had liquid in the bottom like they had been sitting for a long time and they were served lukewarm. The waffles were good and the M&T Breakfast was good. The potatoes lacked salt. Follow up: 10/19/23 After the restaurant told me to email them, I sent them the following and never heard from them. I just want you to know the other part of the experience. Good morning, I received a request from your office to follow up with information related to my party's brunch experience in your restaurant. The only reason I decided to follow up is because I omitted something VERY important from my public review: 1. When my mother received her cup of coffee, there was lipstick on the cup. The waitress had to take it back. Everyone at the table was shocked that she would even bring it to the table. 2. The service was so slow and neglectful that our waitress never came back to ask us if we wanted anything else. To that end, we did not get an opportunity get additional drinks or anything other than to go containers and our checks. I would like to also say that I have hosted many group brunches in the DMV area and your establishment was not that busy during our visit. There were too many tables with little to no service. Many restaurants have staffing issues, but when automatic gratuities are included, your staff needs to do better. Thank you very much for your time! Have a great day!"
