"TLDR: I won't say I don't recommend this practice, but rather I'll just say proceed with caution if you choose to work with them--especially if you are in an incredibly fragile or sensitive place. I suspect I was ghosted by one of their therapists after two sessions. I Never received my 3rd virtual session link, and even texted the therapist and emailed the general inquiry line around the appointment time and all I got was silence. If I had been a different type of client, it could have caused a lot more harm. I'm also aware that an emergency could have come up, so I do hope everything with the therapist is OK. it's been nearly a week and I still haven't even heard from them, except to tell me that they sent my tax documents in a separate email (and to call them when I'm ready--LOL). No apology, clarification about what happened, or to even tell me that the mistake was on my end (date mix up?). No accountability. This behavior is incredibly unprofessional. The good thing is that I could see that this particular therapist wasn't going to be a right fit, so I was planning to terminate anyways-- I wanted to do it face to face rather than in an email or text."

"Tamia is phenomenal! I’ve tried a few others after moving out of the area and could not find my perfect fit as they have not been able to connect with me and get to the root of things like she can. I’d recommend her 100 times over."

"Nylu is an up and coming, Woman of color led therapy practice. They get two stars just for centering their practice around WoC. Truth be told, my experience with the practice warrants zero stars. I would not recommend the practice to a friend. My experience with Nylu: I worked with a counselor Interning at the practice. For the purpose of this review I’ll refer to her as D. D had a great personality but was perhaps underqaulified to treat my particular ailment. During sessions, I found their disposition to be overall empathetic but occasionally invalidating. D would bring her adopted Dog to our sessions, San. San was well behaved but incredibly hyper. I was not able to focus on therapy, whatsoever, during those sessions! I Was excited to encounter a Women of Color led practice..however staff was not a good fit. The acting receptionist might benefit from additional customer service training. I called in to check the status of an appointment..I felt like I was being rushed off the phone. My favorite thing about Nylu was the Location...The location of the Nylu practice is optimal. It’s located right in the heart of Downtown Silver Spring and is easily accessible by public transit. Five stars for a great location."
