"I usually don't do reviews of doctor's offices, but in this case, I have to make an exception. I went to see Dr. Karen Blackburn for a consultation and ultrasound for some birth control options due to my heavy menstrual bleeding. She was a very nice doctor and understood my needs without any problems or confusion. Dr. Blackburn put my fears at ease and was a great help to me. So why the negative review? Well, earlier today I found out in a voicemail that somehow my insurance isn't accepted at this practice and the front desk receptionist didn't catch it prior to my first appointment. Apparently, the office doesn't take my insurance because they're on a contract and need to be paid for their services, and my Medicaid insurance isn't accepted because of the need for money. Now, I'm scared that I'll be paying a hefty bill for the consultation and the ultrasound despite it not being my fault. The front desk staff needs to be better trained and retrained to catch important things like this so that things like this doesn't happen to other people. This is unacceptable, and I'm sad that I won't be able to come back to this office due to my insurance not being accepted and also because of how incompetent the front desk receptionist was for not catching this mistake sooner."

When I made the appointment, I explained this to the front desk staff as the reason for my appointment. When I finally had my appointment, weeks later, Dr. Blackburn informed me she doesn't do surgeries anymore. Considering that this was my only reason for seeking out this provider, it was super frustrating to wait weeks for nothing."
