"Charlie and his helper did a great job and were very pleasant to have in my home. He analyzed my water problem correctly; replaced the well-pump giving me good advice on the new pump's position and the status of the electrical wire to the pump. The job was accomplished efficiently and satisfactorily. Also Putman Plumbing was great concerning the time it took to respond to my request for help."

"We've called Putnam Plumbing three times. One experience was poor, (their tech came out and trashed our new neighbor and then charged us for a 2nd call when said he wouldn't), one positive (real pros came out, and they were helpful, efficient, and courteous), and our recent service call, which was only fair. As the owner admitted, Putnam's prices are at the high end. When I asked why, he compared having a plumber come to eating out at a restaurant (I'm not kidding.) Sometimes when you eat out, you're willing to pay more for a finer meal. But other times a chain restaurant is just fine. One provides a special experience; the other may just put food in your stomach. This comparison was ridiculous, and a tad conceited. Sure, sometimes when you eat out, you'll pay extra if the occasion's special. But many times, you just want food that you can count on, and that's sold at a fair price. And you expect to pay less for such a meal. Folks, we had a pipe with two pinhole leaks. It was an easy fix and easily diagnosed. We didn't need the equivalent of fine cuisine to take care of the matter. We just needed the pipe fixed. It was, but we felt ripped off, because our research found we paid much more than the average plumber charges for such a repair. It boils down to this. If it's important to you to deal only with five-star contractors, then go ahead and call folks like Putnam. They'll do the job right and maybe some neighbors will be impressed that you chose them when they see their truck in your driveway. But be prepared to pay extra. If you just want the job done right at a fair price look elsewhere"
