"TL;DR: very expensive. While work quality is good, it's not worth it. Chiko, the owner is very rude. Invoice did not fully detail scope of work. Will NOT hire again. Long version: Chiko, the owner, initially came off as very friendly and understanding. The job was to fix a small room. Patch it, completely repaint it. The water pipe panels were old and wanted them modernized. That specific point is when the confusion and lack of professionalism started. The other point is we discussed him doing a small fix in the powder room. For all of this, he invoices me over $1000, or at least I thought. The day of the job, the guy he sends over did not know there should be special attention needed for the water pipe panels. He thought it was just a simple paint job. He was also not aware of the additional work in the power room. Chiko reached out and said the powder room would be an extra $170. I refused because I could do it myself. But then I confronted him for his lack of transparency and the guy lashes out on me like he's doing me a favor. I told him for that price I would have painted the room myself. To put it in perspective: Last year (2022) I had the entire main floor repainted (with major patching work), roughly 1300 sq/ft surface, for $3500. This guy charged me over $1k just to do one tiny room! He said "when I hear cheap, I back away". I thought great, this guy values quality and client retention. I even discussed with him the potential for major remodeling in the future if we like the work and so on. I understand we're in a bad economy and everything is expensive, but for that money, I expect the room to look brand new. When he initially came over to look around and talk about scope, I told him I want the room fully repainted and for all the water pipe panels to be properly renovated, to look good. I did not care for the technicalities, patch, dry wall, new panel, I don't care. For that kind of money, it's up to you to solution. If I wanted a simple paint job, I would have hired someone cheaper or did it myself even. This guy basically charges premium pricing but does not back it up with premium customer service. Even his invoice was very unprofessional. Very confusing, lacking detail and even has typos. Again I wouldn't care for all of that if the guy was decent enough to realize that given how expensive it is that he should make me happy or AT LEAST try to find common ground. But no, this guy became full of attitude when I confronted him about the fact that he told his guy to do a regular patch and paint job and not at all mention fixing the water pipe panels. He did not even repaint the trims/floor molding which I thought would be an obvious part of the job. Again it was not specified in the invoice. This guy does not understand what scope of work is. For this price I expect him to fully disclose what's included and what's not. Anyways what was done was done well so no complaints there. But it's sad to see a "professional" not realizing the potential money he would have made had he been a bit more professional and not accuse me of "flipping on me, acting all mad". I once remodeled a bathroom and my initial budget was $10k. The company was so good and they were attentive to our requests we ended up HAPPILY paying over $30k and it was the best bathroom ever. It helped us sell our place. My review for them had over 1000 views. Good job on losing valuable business, Mr. "I don't do cheap"."
"Very pleased with the high quality work by Chiko's Handyman. They did tub/shower area renovation, ceiling work and dryer vent placement to connect hose. They are helpful, knowledgeable and have excellent pricing. Made recommendations on mold/mildew prevention and used quality products. I've used Chicko's service in the past for front door adjustment, and is now very well aligned, replaced materials so door's secured, lowered my energy bill."
"They did great work. We didn’t have an original dryer duct in our house. The previous owners had cut the pipe from the exhaust fan in bathroom and connected the dryer duct to this. This is a major fire hazard. The guys did good work and walked us through the process of fixing it. They cleaned up after themselves. They created a new hole in the cement wall and laid out new piping. Everything seems to be done up to code. They were careful not to drill into any wires. They also reconnected the exhaust pipe. We are pleased and will use again."
"Chikos Handyman replaced our basement bathroom ceiling. The job was done quickly and professionally. Not only did they repair our low leaky ceiling, they were also able to raise it up and fix the framing. Two thumbs up!! Highly recommend."
"These guys are great! Did a fantastic job for a great price! They work with you and give you all the best options! Helped install a door and helped reshape the door frame. Came back couple weeks later to make everything was perfect and made minor adjustments! They don't miss a beat or leave until everything is perfect! A+++"
