"I stopped in for an interview after being strangled by an old high school friend/newly deranged room mate. I listed three goals in that interview, and within a year of training with this school, I am confident in saying that I have met all three. If you want to learn a sport, there are great benefits to that, but that isn't what everyone is looking for. If you want to train in how to defend yourself from true violence or survive a real world emergency situation, I would stop into the dojo and talk to any of the instructors there at the time. This school can teach you the essence of what a martial art is, modern personal protection, traditional weapons and firearms, as well as other trainings offered through various seminars. Then they'll invite you to their fall camp and fill you will exceptional Chili and Sake. 5 stars."
"Pittsburgh bujinkan Dojo is truly unlike any other. Based on principles dating back over 2000 years, the 9 different schools of the Bujinkan present the practitioner a path to mastering the inner and outer aspects of "the martial way". Encompassing and building upon the base fundamentals that root every martial art, the Pittsburgh Bujinkan Taka Seigi Dojo truly is the perfect mixed martial art. The instructors are world-class with immense experience in modern-day combative arts and skillfully integrate the ancient ways with the new tactics of today. Those who are ready to sharpen their tools of body and mind and walk the path of growth and discipline look no further. Students are always welcome to experience the excitement firsthand before committing to the long road ahead. Ask for Dishihan Brent, a true master and mentor."
"Dedicated instructors who continuously build on their wealth of experience by hosting seminars with renowned experts. Not only are they experts in martial arts and street self defense, they are adept at teaching and transmitting that information to you in an organized manner. A rare combination!"
"You don’t even have be a member to take advantage of the prgrams. Let me explain: The Pittsburgh Bujinkan Dojo hosts national expert seminars. Over the past few years I’ve been honored to meet the likes of Rory Miller (FACING VIOLENCE), Marc MacYoung (IN THE NAME OF SELF-DEFENSE), A twenty-five-year veteran of S.E.A.L. Team 6 (now a Spec Ops Instructor for said team and others), Phil Legare (DOD ret., Sentinel Group), and Pete Reynolds (Bujinkan), to name a few. Other seminars include Personal Protective training for non-martial artists and historical weapons weekends. Its really cool to have leading authors fly to town, answer your questions, sign books, and teach you some things not in the pages."
"After trying online videos and other schools I found the Pittsburgh Bujinkan Dojo. These are serious martial artists. The senior people have certification from the headquarters (hombu) in Japan. The curriculum involves six samurai schools and three ninjutsu lineages. (Don't expect black hoods and flash bombs. Although the historical ninja skills are covered, this is not a 'play ninja' group.) Both unarmed and weapons are taught. They fly in guest instructors and national authors for private seminars. To name only a few of these: Rory Miller, Marc MacYoung, and a current Spec Ops trainer. If you have an open heart and open mind, this school will help you become a better version of you. The combat skills are not based on size, speed, or age. Choosing a martial art is a personal thing. You may enjoy sport-arts, grappling arts, or something else. That's fine. But if you are smaller, older, or not as muscular as an Olympian, and you want to learn how to defend yourself and others - this is the school for you."
