"School is absolutely horrible. They are islamaphobic and when a white girl made terrorist joke to a Muslim girl, they didn’t do anything about it and comforted the white girl when she was crying saying that they were “lying” even tho everyone heard her say it. I’m extremely disappointed especially since they have a msa (Muslim society association) club and there’s a good chunk of Muslims there. Do better Mallard Creek."
"This school is a joke. We barely registered my son on Friday before school started we just moved from VA they rushed us and barely let us finish filling out the papers so they could rush to a meeting as if registering kids in the registration office is not the main goal. they did not give us a bus or class schedule then had him sit in the auditorium all day doing absolute nothing. No books no worksheets NOTHING. I am not sending him back to this silly country school until i know he will be in an actual classroom. Not off to a good start Mallard Creek need to work on your professionalism as staff and need better communication for patents who are not familiar with their unorthodox ways"
"Mallard Creek High School has many resources & courses to offer. The sports programs are great & have won the school several championships & titles. The foreign language programs have been steady but with teachers becoming older, it's become harder to keep up with the upcoming younger students. The food is average, some days the food is good & some days it's terrible & inedible. The music programs have also been steady & have raised an all-state member & several musicians. Most of the teachers are wonderful & will respect you as long as you respect them; all around, teachers honestly do not get paid enough for the hours they work. The worst part is having to be at school by 7:15 AM, meaning most students have to wake up at 6 to get ready & catch the bus on time. They lock the school gates which can be very inconvenient at times because if you have an appointment to get to & the gates are locked, you might be late to your appointment because they can sometimes take forever to unlock them. it's understandable for them to lock the gates so students do not leave to get lunch or skip, however as a student who cares about their classes & grades, it's frustrating to have to wait & be stuck at school longer than you should be. They have a policy where you can use your technology in the common areas without consequence, aka the cafeteria, hallways, & courtyard, which is nice. The clubs & honor societies are great & are a ton of fun to be in. Over the past couple of years, I've been a member of about 10 clubs & societies, which helped lead me to volunteer with great organizations & meet wonderful people. Bullying is not a huge problem here; most people mind their own business & there are clubs & teachers & administrators to offer support. The dress code isn't too strictly enforced which is nice because students, specifically females, are less likely to be attacked by teachers saying their shoulders & legs are distracting (which, by the way, dress code does not help with sexism in our society!) & don't even bother purchasing a locker, it will be useless & a waste of your money."
"This school is crap. Compared to other schools in North Carolina it may be decent but that's because North Carolina's education system is also crap. The food is terrible. It starts at 7:15, which, studies have proven, is unhealthy for teenagers to be waking up at. I am a senior at this school and I feel like this school let me down. Today I asked the principal if they can allow me to take my class online next semester because I'm starting a full time job in order to support myself and he said it wasn't likely because if he makes one exception he'll have to make one for everybody which is absurd considering it should be the schools responsibility to ensure the success of their students. So far, Mallard Creek has failed to do so. Then when I got back to my car to drive home after my only class, I come to locked gates. YES THEY LOCK STUDENTS CARS IN THE PARKING LOTS. They think that this will prevent students from skipping class, going to bojangles, and smoking weed. Students do this anyway. The school has no right to make a student late to work, miss a doctors appointment, or wait at the school any longer than they should. It is in the student contracts that students must leave immediately after class unless they are with a teacher but how can I leave when my car is imprisoned in the student parking lot? No student likes this school unless they are a freshman who doesn't know what they are in for. If you are a parent looking to send your kid to a new school, move out of North Carolina."
