"I'll get my gripe out of the way first-- I wish hotels would use fragrance free cleaning products and stock fragrance free toiletries. That said, the check in was quick and friendly, the room was quiet (building is tucked back behind other buildings so you don't have the street right next to you ) and the breakfast area was cozy (with a gas fireplace) and ACTUALLY HAD GOOD HEALTHY OPTIONS for breakfast!"
"The most clean and welcoming hotel! Pet friendly and terrific staff. Complete breakfast with fresh fruit and nice choices of breads and eggs, etc. Did I mention clean? Super clean!!"
"This was an unexpected, last minute stay and I was happy they could accommodate us at the late hour. This hotel felt new, and everything was sparkly clean, pristine and comfortable. The beautiful fruit offering in the morning was a nice surprise, as I mostly steer clear of the "hotel breakfast.""
"I really don't get the hype around this hotel, I mean the 4.5 star rating is quite good as far as Hampton Inn-s go. You would expect something really good (again, on a Hampton Inn level). Unfortunately this is an old full concrete structure hotel where they made a cosmetic upgrade. Sound insulation is POOR. Not just between floors, but between rooms as well, downt to the level where you can very clearly understand the television show your neighbour watches. Not to mention step noises that travel between rooms uninterrupted. Connected rooms are not marked on the app, so expect surprises when checking in through the app. Cleaniness is good and the cosmetic upgrade is relatively fresh and among the better quality jobs. Again, just don't expect anything better then average (and expect a LOT worse in terms of sound insulation)."
"I rarely write a review, and a negative review even rarer still, but an incident I had with this hotel and the manager named Debbie has left a lot to be desired for me and my experience with this hotel. I came to town for a wedding and booked a room to stay for a Friday and Saturday. On Saturday there was a storm and the hotel lost power. There was no lights, no climate control, no way to charge a phone (which I absolutely needed to have charged and ready for my next day of travel), and no way to get in and out of the room without being manually let in by staff. At midnight, after waiting for two hours, staff had no estimate of when or if power would return. I had to make the decision to leave the hotel and find other accommodations. The front desk staff told me to call the next day about a refund for the night. When I called the following day I was told I must speak with Debbie and to call back when she was available. I call back the following day and was able to speak with her and she let me know that I would not be receiving a refund. I found it unfair that the cost of a natural disaster be placed upon the customer. It certainly wasn’t my fault that the hotel lost power, and I feel the customer shouldn’t be expected accept or to cover the cost of a room that does not have any power or basic amenities. Debbie also let me know that although I could dispute the charge on my cc, that she would be disputing my claim on their end. She also told me more than once “I don’t know how you even got out, 2 people died during the storm.” I found that commentary to be passive aggressive, disturbing, and unrelated to my refund request. What kind of customer service is this? She refused to let me speak with anyone other than her, and I was unable to plead my case or escalate my claim. I felt brushed off and unheard. This story has a happy ending, despite Debbie’s best efforts. I was able to get a refund through Hilton honors rewards program customer care. As long as nothing bad happens during your stay and you’re not forced to deal with the manager you probably won’t have an issue with this hotel, but I found the interaction deserving of a 1 star rating. To be a successful manager in the world of hospitality one must have a strong focus on customer service and aim to leave each guest satisfied. Management can truly make or break an customer experience."
