Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Wheeling at The Highlands

"A+++ to all the staff members who worked December 31 & January 1st. Very pleasant and courteous to all. Rooms were very clean, and the pool area was also very clean (kids enjoyed swimming). Breakfast was great. The only thing i would suggest is maybe some scrambled eggs for kids to eat. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is interested in a place to stay. There are plenty of stores in walking distance."

"Very nice, clean hotel. Great location. Breakfast was decent. Breakfast attendant not very good both days we were there. Counters & tables dirty, garbage overflowing wasn't even busy. Back in the kitchen on their phone! Front desk was AWESOME!!! Very friendly!"

"Excellent facility. I stayed here during a week long work conference. The facility and rooms are clean, staff extremely friendly and helpful. This facility is in a great location. It's located at the Highlands which is a large shopping center with quick access to the interstate system."

"My wife and I have stayed here at least a dozen times over the past 3-4 years, or since they opened anyway. It's about the halfway point between our home in Virginia and family in Ohio. As others have posted, it's in a great location and the hotel itself is pretty nice, but I get the impression it's not exactly thriving financially. Usually when we check in we see one, occasionally two people working there and we have never seen the same desk clerk twice. It just seems like there might be a lot of staff turnover. Also apparently their system does not indicate how often we have stayed there, as they almost always ask if we have stayed here before. Although we are Sliver Elite members and have our profile preferences set for " high floor", they seem to ignore that pretty often. The last time they gave us a room on the second floor; the place seemed pretty empty so I didn't say anything because I thought maybe they were trying to save money by not using the upper floors during slow times. Well, that wasn't the case because they put a family with kids directly above us. It sounded like they were running the Special Olympics up there all evening! It seems like an obvious courtesy to try and avoid putting potentially noisy groups directly above others when many other rooms are available, but apparently it's not something they consider. So now I know to always ask for my preference when they initially ignore it"
