"Basic Land Navigation and Advanced Land Navigation: Excellent school. Erik and Terry taught a method that is easy to understand and apply immediately. Whether you're prepping for selection, or just going out on a hike - they teach as a group, but tailor the course to each individual. Even if you think you've got this and have the best method - having done this a lot I can tell you - learn their method and apply it over and over in the course. When you are dead tired and droning - it will save you. Highly recommended. (a month later ) Basic Military Land Navigation: Excellent. A longer walk and a great time. The different and much larger training area really takes it to the next level. Route planning is key. (so many navigation points - and so well placed and thought out to cover all the main points of land navigation) Plus - you search for the points at night as well. Another great course. "I spent the weekend with Erik completing both the Basic and Advanced Land Navigation courses. Absolute hell of a time that I will not forget. Erik is a highly effective educator, speaking and instructing at a perfect cadence and very good at making sure things don't get off track. He was clearly concerned that we were retaining what he was teaching. I learned a lot in 2 days, though Erik was great at emphasizing how perishable these skills are so I will be sure to practice. "I’ve taken two courses through True North so far and both of them were incredible! The instructors are engaging experts and the material is solid. The first course I did was basic wilderness survival and I now feel much more confident and prepared. I didn’t know anyone on that trip, and was a little nervous about whether or not I could keep up with a heavy pack of essentials. But everyone was friendly and welcoming, and I kept up just fine. The second course I took was the Learn Your Land tree identification workshop. I learned so much! The material was delivered in such an engaging manner and the day was organized well - even though there was so much info to impart, the instructor had clearly put a lot of thought into how to deliver it so as not to overwhelm, and gave us plenty of chances to practice what we were learning. I’m excited to sign up for another course soon!"
