"Theresa's "Pets Are Family" is the premier pet sitting service in Franconia/Alexandria. I had previously used Wag! (mobile app), and am so relieved to have found Theresa and her staff instead. From the start, her free in-house consultation to meet my pet already gave me a feeling everything was off to a great start. I can tell she had a genuine interest in providing the best service for my pet. I have used her services for my mini dachshund, Delta, for a range of duration (all in my house): Walk during the day when I am mostly out; short overnight when I am away 1-2 days, and extended stay when I am away longer (7+ days). In all instances, while I still missed Delta a lot, my mind was completely at ease knowing he was being well taken care of: safe, fed, and being loved & exercised. After every visit (no matter how short) a write up of how Delta was is provided, and video/pictures are provided. Theresa really understands what it is like for pet owners to be away from their loved ones, and I appreciate that. Theresa consistently goes the extra mile with her services, and even left gifts behind. I am pleased & confident to know I will use her services from here on out."

"Theresa Johnson is a godsend! We’ve typically relied on friends and family to help with our dogs when we travel, along with an unsatisfactory Rover house/dog sitter for a longer trip we took last year. Scheduling, paying, and communications are all handled via an app which is very convenient and streamlined. "I wholeheartedly recommend pets are family and Theresa! Theresa has been so fantastic with our elderly cat and our crazy flexible schedule. We have used her for over a year now, and she has always been super professional, kind, and extremely responsive. Pets Are Family is very well run as well. PAF sends daily reports with pictures and details, so that you never have to worry about how your pets are doing. They will even get packages from your porch, water your plants, or get your mail if you need them to. We recently had a family emergency, which had us leaving town with less than 24 hours notice. Theresa not only accommodated us, but when we had to change our plans from one week to two weeks and finally to three weeks out of town, she was so gracious with every change and easily accommodated us.
