U Street Hostel

"My stay here was amazing!! It felt totally safe, the staff was extremely nice and welcoming, it was clean and cozy, and easy to use. The capsules were so cute and welcoming. The location was beautiful and right by the metro too. Would highly recommend for a solo trip."

"I booked the capsule room for my three day trip to DC. Was not sure what to expect but was very pleased to stay in this hostel. Capsule type beds are very interesting concept and give you a good privacy compared to a typical bunk bed. All check in is very simple using a mobile application, even check out was automated. As long as you have taken all your belongings as safe and sound! Location is great, not exactly walking distance to the White House but the metro stop is just around the corner. Also, one of the stuff suggested to use an app called Transit that is very useful to get around the city. Overall hostel people are very friendly (especially thanks to Italian and Irish girls) and helpful with tips where to go for a drink or something or just to get comfortable while staying in the hostel. Only suggestion I would give is to add mats in shower rooms to stand on while you dry yourself. Something like rubber anti slip that go inside the shower space. And these capsule type bedrooms could have some noise cancelling isolation. Although I am used to city noises so it was not a huge issue for me. Oh and one more thing if I may add, maybe these capsules can have locks too so guests could keep their things in."

"Just stayed for a week. Had an amazing time. If you’re looking for fancy or lots of privacy - this ain’t it. But that’s not what hostels are for. The social scene was rad, I felt super welcome and had a home away from home. 10/10 would stay again."

"This was my first hostel experience and it won't be my last. The staff is super friendly and the rooms and shower area are clean. U Street Hostel is extremely convenient to the Metro (literally just around the corner from the U Street Station/Green Line), tourist sites, and restaurants. I will definitely be staying here next time I'm in DC."

"I have stayed here numerous times so this is a qualified and detailed review. •DC is a pricey city regardless of where you go, so to find this gem in the heart of U street at a STEAL of a price is a “unicorn” in itself. •If you’re a movie buff the pods here remind you of the fifth element with the futuristic feel of them. •The staff are super friendly, & willing to accommodate, going the extra mile to ensure guests enjoy their stay. They even allow you to store luggage if your flight is after check out hours so you don’t have to lug it around .. which is a common issue for travelers. Need coffee? There’s a in house shop downstairs no need to drudge to Starbucks, and they have discounts & small perks throughout the week for guests. •LOCATION!!! Literally across the street from a Walgreens and several restaurants including Alero, a comfy Mexican spot w daily happy hour and good food for reasonable price. U st Metro station is around the corner, and buses run all day/night so a car isn’t a necessity at all. •Cleanliness has been great, the staff cleans beds, bathrooms, and showers daily. The water is always hot (which I love) wide updated shower heads, and complimentary mouthwash, blow dryer, and q tips in the ladies bathroom… need I say more? Overall if you need a quick but comfortable stay in DC without breaking the bank , U STREET HOSTEL is it!"
