"Given some of the comments from previous reviews, we were iffy about staying here. We booked through a third-party app and decided to give it a go and then leave if it wasn't satisfactory. Upon check-in, the customer service was superb. The front desk helped us check in, explained the area, gave us food recommendations, helped us navigate where the room was located and the best way to get to it given it was snow and ice covered, all with a friendly demeanor and willingness to help. We booked one night and needed to extend to a second night, and they were very accommodating and understanding of the situation and helped us book with no issues. I spoke with three employees during our two day stay and each the same, outgoing, friendly, helpful, all-around nice people. The room we booked was a double suite. The hotel listing does make this appear to have a hotel vibe versus motel vibe. Do your due diligence when booking. Use Google maps to look at real-time views of the places you are booking, and you won't be disappointed. That will help mitigate the expectations of the listing versus what you are getting. Our rooms were on par with a Motel 6 or something of the similar. Rooms were clean, sheets and linens were clean, and no pests or signs of pests were observed. The paint might need a touch-up, and that's the worst I can say about it. The only aspect I can comment on that I would say needs a touch more of help or revamping would be the breakfast. Timeline was on par for the hours we were told. The items available are not what I would call a continental breakfast. I would have preferred more options, especially kid friendly options."
"We had an extremely disappointing stay at the Pentagon Hotel. The room initially provided had no hot water, forcing us to change rooms in the middle of the night. Furthermore, the lack of responsiveness from the reception meant we had to trek to the front desk late at night, in the cold, as our calls went unanswered. Additionally, the hotel failed to adhere to basic hospitality standards: stating breakfast until 9 a.m. should mean precisely that. Yet, arriving at 8:45 a.m., we found the breakfast area closed. This establishment falls short of its claims as a hotel and leans more towards a motel setup. Saving $30 is not worth the hassle and inconvenience of staying in this remotely located, subpar hotel. There are far better options available. Absolutely, here's an addition to highlight the lack of privacy and invasion of personal space: Adding to the litany of issues, the rooms lack fundamental privacy measures. The only barrier preventing outsiders from seeing into the room is a mere curtain. Moreover, the cleaning staff, early in the morning while we were asleep, entered our room without knocking or seeking permission. Thankfully, our suitcases were obstructing the entry. I've never encountered such a disregard for guest privacy and comfort in any other hotel."
"I had booked at the Sheraton but they screwed up my booking that I reserved a month earlier and I needed to tweak one of my days and could not accommodate me due to being sold out even though I already had the room for those days but their system is final. They get a 0 for customer service. For the Hotel Pentagon I had to reserve at the last minute because it was the only one available near where I was going to work for a week. I was able to get in easily despite all the other hotels being sold out that week. I read the reviews and to be honest I was really worried. When I got there I was surprised how nice the staff was, the room while older looking was spacious and nice. Hot water was nice, the bathtub was nice. Water pressure good. The whole stay was pleasant. Breakfast was good and the dining area was nice and spacious for it. Close to catch an UBER or bus to nearby areas. Very close to where I had to work so, it was convenient. I parked in front of my room so that was nice most parking is costly at other hotels. My only complaint was that the curtain on top of the AC units causes it to swing so you lose a little privacy when folks walk by the room. I had to set up in a way where people cant peek through. I guess that was the only issue for me but I am sure the hotel at some point in the near future will get that corrected. It was def not a deal breaker for me."
"Worst Customer Service by Hotel Pentagon Team. We stayed there for 3 nights during our trip to Washington DC. Earlier I had booked it for 4 nights stay and modified my booking 8 days prior to our trip to 3 nights, however Hotel charged me for 4 nights and after several calls and emails, they refused to accept their error and did not reverse the charge for 1 night. Just wanted others to be aware that this is a motel not a hotel which I was unaware of when booking. It is also VERY old and in need of a major renovation. Plus, we saw cockroach in our room twice and in lobby which shows, how they maintain the property. The old, musty run-down carpets, mismatched furniture, moldy bathroom, squeaky beds, are the very stereotype of a cheap motel. The only positive part was their Night Desk attendant and breakfast serving staff were very helpful and pleasant. The owners seem to be deceiving type of people. For the price you pay you expect something better. This experience was very ordinary and disappointing. Finally, if you don't want to ruin the experience of your holiday and don't want rip your money off, don't stay at this Place."
"The location is right on the bus line and makes getting into and around DC for sightseeing really easy. We checked in pretty late. The person at the desk was very nice. Breakfast had a variety of items to choose from, it is better to get there right around 7am. Checkout was also easy. We left early in the morning and the person was pleasant and buzzed me in at 5am just so I could get a cup of coffee before we officially checked out. This is a motel. Its set up like a motel. The room was a bit run down but considering that our family was only using it to sleep, it was perfectly acceptable. The room size was nice. We were two adults and one child and we weren't tripping over each other. The water pressure wasn't great and anyone who wasn't first into the shower had to enjoy periods of surprise cold water. I checked for bugs in the room I was in, we didn't see any. The first night we checked in there was someone floating around the building who obviously was on some good drugs but he left us alone and we left him alone. No one messed with our car. Its a fine place to stay for the price if you are only using it for a place to store your stuff and sleep while you run around DC. If you are on a budget, I would recommend it."
