"Unfairly negative reviews below. While staff won’t win any awards for warmth or exuberance, they are competent and I have always had my orders right. The toasts are great and I keep returning for the salmon avocado toast. The coffee drinks and shakes (Green Goodness!) are solid. The grocery/beer/wine selection is sold (this is a deli and not Whole Foods) and they have the full Jeni’s ice cream line. Large, high ceilinged space with lots or windows and light. Hope they stay."
"I can’t fathom bad reviews at this place. The service was only friendly, the selection of items is fun and unique, and the smoothie was awesome. This place should be rated a lot higher."
"Stopped in here to check it out finally and pick up a couple items. They carry a lot of speciality items which is nice, though it's definitely not cheap. I will agree with other reviews though that the people behind the counter are the absolute most miserable people I've ever encountered. Rude, dismissive and not helpful. Enough to keep me from returning unfortunately."
"I was so excited when the SW Wharf and SE Navy Yard Foxtrot opened in our neighborhood based upon my experience at the Georgetown, Arlington, Bethesda, and DC 6th Street NW locations. I am here to say the Navy Yard location pales in customer service compared to the other stores. I visited the Navy Yard location this morning after a bike ride to pick up a few doughnuts. The attitude I received from the staff was outrageous and unacceptable. I walked in, said hi and placed the order, the representative body language indicated that I was inconveniencing her to take my order she rang the order up at a register that was further away from me, so I thought to myself maybe I went to the wrong register? So I moved to the register she used, when she bagged the doughnuts I politely corrected her and told her I only wanted one glaze doughnut she then rolled her eyes and proceeded to project more attitude, at this point I had had it and asked if there was a problem and inquired if I had done something to her to create this attitude and she stated she did not have an attitude with even more attitude. At that point I asked to speak to a manager because clearly this employee needs customer service training, and the other representative began to assist in obtaining the manager information which was a process and an easy ask. By that time another customer had arrived and the rude and unprofessional employee, greeted the customer, good morning sir how can I help you, a huge difference in how she treated me so I stated, " I wish I could have been greeted in that manner to try and demonstrate to her that there was a clear distinction. I would rather get in my car and drive to the 6th St NW location before I would ever go to this location again. This employee needs basic customer service training sooner rather than later. The staff behavioral at this location is abhorrent, please invest in training or at a minimal have a manager on location to oversee the staff."
"I want to give this place a chance but so far it’s not been a fruitful experience. Orders are not made correctly, cashiers with attitude lolly gagging about, items taken off shelves before expiration, ended up leaving a few times with an unpleasant feeling, not welcoming. I wish businesses like these would adapt better customer service training. They focus so much on appearance but if the core is rotten, it ends up just being a putting lipstick on a pig experience. But, as a new bodega addition to the area, I’m very much loving the selections they have."
