"I have never stayed in such a charming and elegant hotel. And wonderful with impeccable decoration. Everything is very rustic and there is an afternoon chat like in ancient times with the ladies in hats. Super polite and very helpful staff. Extremely clean and organized rooms. the hotel hall has an incredible smell of fresh Lilies of the Field flowers. The prices are very high and there are some fees that I didn't think were necessary. Hotel location is splendid in the center of all monuments and excellent restaurants."
"My family and I visited this hotel for a few days over winter break, and our experience was absolutely magical. Upon checking in, my 10 year old was greeted and asked if she liked to read. From there, she was escorted into an executive office and issued her very own library card for within the hotel. She was ecstatic. The history alone within this establishment is remarkable. They have a “history hallway” that describes the hotel’s existence and all the famous patrons that have travelled through- very informative and interesting. The holiday decorations were stunning and not in short supply. A very regal, classic look, indoors & outdoors, that radiated holiday cheer. We explored the hotel on several occasions admiring the art and detailed furnishings. The entire staff was exceptional. The concierge was extremely helpful with everything we needed; even bringing a microwave and mini refrigerator to our room upon request (our room had a fully stocked mini fridge, but because we were staying for a few days, we needed refrigerator space to store food). Each and every staff member would greet and acknowledge our 10 year old; asking her name and then continuing the conversation. That was very special for them to interact with her and I know she felt it. Our room (# 1200) was charming & magnificent. When we checked in, Ali mentioned to us that we had the best view in the entire hotel, but I had to see it with my own eyes to believe it. Not only did we have a clear view of the national mall, but we overlooked the White House as well. And to set the experience over the top, we were able to watch NYE fireworks being set off in Alexandria, VA. Just phenomenal. We could also see the Jefferson and Lincoln’s memorials and watch planes land at DCA. It was all so spectacular. Besides the view, we had a large soaking tub (mom’s favorite), mini refrigerator and stocked snacks, king size bed, queen size pull out couch, a desk work area, and plenty of space to live."
"Very nice experience within walking distance to many of DC's attractions. The rooms are amazing, and the service is as expected for an upscale hotel. We didn't try the restaurants in the hotel as there were lots of other options close by. The hotel staff was friendly. The valet parking was prompt with courteous attendants. Overall a nice experience for a night out in town."
"It is a nice hotel but sometimes it feels a little fake and overdone. More disappointing is the deceptive advertising and marketing. I booked a superior room with view of the Washington monument. On the website, the picture of the room window shows a view with the entire monument unobstructed. The room I got I could only see the tip of the monument. Actually when you look at the hotel from outside, almost all the rooms gave another building across the street so most of them would not have that view in the picture. Maybe there is one room that has that view. Most rooms will only be able to see the tip of the monument. They of course change you more for that room."
"My new favorite DC hotel. Stayed here 2x October-November. Terrific location close to White House and great restaurants. Both stays they had my room ready early so I was able to change, go for a run on the Mall before meetings. Rooms are large and have everything you need including large desk with proper chair, plenty of outlets, good climate control, coffee and tea maker. Despite central location, it’s quiet and I got a good night’s sleep. Staff is terrific- the same person checked me in both stays, doormen are helpful and friendly, housekeeping does a thorough job each day [don’t forget to tip the hardest working staff in any hotel :)"
