"After a 9 month stay in their "nicest" room, and after fixing the porch by myself with my own materials, I'm now having the owners attempt to swindle me out of my security deposit for 310 dollars. He's even going as far as saying I violated the lease by "smoking IN the property." The lease states not to smoke "IN" the property, says nothing of the word "ON." I then took pictures of the cigarette bins and buckets lined uo outside many of the rooms. Even the nice cleaning lady had to correct him on words he put in her mouth, and she was quick to tell him, "I didn't say that." This was as he was trying to accuse me of causing damages that I had never made. Unfortunately he'll soon learn of laws in PA that allow a tenant to sue for twice the differences in the damages and security deposit after 30 days, and sometimes even twice the deposit itself. This place is crawling with bed bugs, mold, and disgusting features. Room 12 is roach infested. Room 10 had so much mold under the bed and a tremendous amount of bed bugs. Do NOT be fooled. This place is a trap. Cars have been keyed and tires flattened, mail was left outside my door by the owner and stolen. I could go on for days. Please beware!"
"I stayed at this place back in the late 90s and early 2000s - back when it was cute, clean, and comfortable. I thought I would stay here again for old time's sake - but nostalgia can bite you. It's all overgrown now, weeds everywhere, pool long gone. One look inside the room and I knew there was no way I was going to spend a minute in there, let alone the night. Mold and nicotine and god knows what else lurking in there. DON'T DO IT."
"The rooms appear to be kept clean and well maintained and the staff is friendly and courteous and will address problems promptly when brought to their attention. The only thing that that could be addressed maintenance wise is a parking lot repaving but other than that is nice for a small motel."
"We really enjoyed our stay here. This is definately one of those "Don't judge a book by it's cover." My husband, myself and 2 kids stayed here on Gettysburg reenactment weekend (August 2015) and were not even there for the reenactment. It was full and we still loved it. From the road it looks like tiny little hotel rooms, but they are almost like cabins once inside. The best part was the family that runs it (husband & wife). They were extremely accomodating. If you are a person that has to have everything modern and updated, this may not be for you. We found that if we asked for something, they went out of their way to provide it. Very clean and comfortable rooms and loved having a back patio. They even opened the pool early for my 10 year old. We ended up staying an extra day because the location was so convenient and the staff so friendly. I seen a lot of reviews about needing updating, but truly if you can look past small things such as chipped paint on the deck or bring your own amenities(hair dryer, coffee pot), you will really enjoy this place. We plan to return next year my kids loved it so much. We really loved the 5 min ride into downtown Gettysburg (beautiful, friendly people). The whole stay reminded me of being a kid in the 80's, the cabin-like atmosphere with a friendly family staff that is really hard to find these days. In case anyone wonders we had a room with 2 queen beds, but there was a second room with a second t.v. and a living room feel (comfy couch). We would highly recommend."
