Ruby's Roof Jamaican Restaurant 5706 North 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120

"I have been living in the area for a very long time. I picked up some fried chicken from my supermarket that I know is always very good. It was late in the afternoon and I hadn't eaten. On my way home I decided to stop at Ruby's. I ordered a small red beans and rice. She told me $5.00 and I thought that was high. I could have bought a box of zatarins but was hungry or looked in the frozen food section. I would share this very small container. The rice and beans looked dry and I asked for gravy. She said oxtail gravy. She put a couple table spoon. When I got home and tried it. It was so salty I ate a couple spoon and oh my god, it was so salty that I wouldn't share with my grandson. I had to throw it out. I hate wasting money, but being one that suffer with high blood pressure, I would have had a stroke. Never will I go back there. If I get desperate I will go to Jamaiican D's. In this neighborhood 35 years. I will not go there. I'm glad I only got one. It was not worth $5.00. Could have made it myself for $3.00 and ate it all week."

"Food is horrible! I ordered oxtail platter with rice, beans, cabbage and sweet plantains. Rice wasn't cooked well done at all it was hard, sweet plantains weren't sweet they were dry not juicey. Paid 20.00 for medium platter. Upset, not good it is trash."

"Received pepper steak , cabbage, rice and beans , coco bread and yams. Food portion was good. Everything was greatly seasoned. I wish my coco bread was a little more sweeter but none the less it was still good. And my fiancé liked everything except the peas in the cabbage. I could probably do without that as well."

"HONEST REVIEW! wanted to give this place a play. Paid $16 for this platter which has 5 oxtails in it! The oxtails are wayyyy too salty. The yams have too much cinnamon and they gave me a block of cold Mac. They don’t even keep the food in heated trays. Basura"
