"I stopped in for a trim and left with a much shorter absolute mess on my head. I’m not sure how it happened and I was told that the girl who cut my hair has worked there for 4 years. Yikes. I asked for a refund and they offered to have me come in and get it fixed. That seems like a really uncomfortable experience so I preferred a refund and would go elsewhere to get my hair fixed. I had 3 different email chains with various salon workers until Jean Tretheway got a hold of me. She proceeded to scream at me over the phone about how it was rude to get a refund because someone spent time on my hair already. (um…WHAT?!?) she also told me that my hair would grow back and then she screamed that I was not a good fit for the salon when I had frequented for years to have Hannah color my hair (Hannah was the best and did not do this haircut). Avoid Shear Design at all costs. A word of advice to the owner, Jean - the managing director of the salon - should probably be put through SEVERAL customer service trainings. Will be sure to spread the word."

"Nails were not trimmed enough even after asking a second go-round be performed. (Only filing board was used- and I had purposely grown out my nails for a proper "reset"). Cuticles were barely touched... nails were not soaked , some softening gel was used. I was not impressed. Matte nail polish was nowhere to be found. Disappointment continued at checkout; there was confusion over who was the 'beard expert'; caused me enough concern that the next day I cancelled my appointment for that service. I will grow it out further and try to find a business that is confident in who the best person is for that important shaping service. I'm not in the habit of going to Spa treatments, but I know enough to know this experience didn't measure up well at all. I've been to a dozen or so as an adult, and this wasn't close to what a Spa should offer. I was a first time, new customer- and if this was their best; I'm gonna pass. On a good note, the atmosphere is excellent, the staff, very polite and friendly. (This is part of what you pay for, but isn't the service results you leave with, so I'm not sure how much that matters when all else failed). From a males' perspective- I'd be hesitant to even consider buying a gift certificate for someone I appreciated and needed a gift to give."
