"I don't normally get haircuts here, however on New Years Eve I realized I looked like a hermit and should probably cleanup and realized I'd be at the mall already, so why not? I called ahead and was told by the woman who answered the phone that they didn't have any walkin slots available for the day. Ok, I guess, she never asked if she could take my number in case there was a cancellation, which I was a little surprised by. A few hours later as I was at the mall already, I figured I'd swing by just in case. This was several hours before the shop would close. A customer was walking out and I inquired at the desk again to see if they could fit in a walk-in. I was told they just had their last walk-in, which was funny because I was told there wasn't any available earlier and the place was totally empty. I guess maybe no one wants to work on NYE? This all occured between 11am-2pm, so I can't imagine what important NYE events all the stylists were up to at that time, but I got the strong sense that they just didn't want to be there and were going through the motions. I always find it a little annoying when I can't pay a business to perform their function... And I would've been more than happy to tip heavily if the desk person would have at least asked one of the stylists if they had the twenty minutes it would have taken for a simple mens cut. I guess, more simply, if you don't want customers, why even be open? Why pay the front desk lady to simply decline service to customers. Strong postcovid customer service syndrome vibes."
