"I've been going to UpRoar for awhile! It's always a great vibe filled with a diverse crowd. When I talk to friends I call this place the "De Facto Bear Bar of DC". The staff is top tier and super friendly. The food is probably some of the best you'll get at any gay bar in the area. Their fries definitely have won my heart personally. If you're part of the Bear Community I highly suggest checking out Beer Bust as its such a lovely and great social event."

"Great place, staff are always wonderful, drinks are good, bar food is enjoyable from the first floor (and sometimes will be handed out up on roof deck during events). Can be a bit crowded/loud, but no more than any other gay bar in DC. Also staff were super helpful getting my keys back when I lost them there. Only thing I really will ding them on is joining the ranks of places adding a "fair wage fee" onto all tabs and telling people it's not part of the tip. Would rather they just raise prices 18% instead. These fees just feel dodgy at all the places using them."

"Always a fun time at uproar. Great bathrooms and roof bar. Nice mixed crowd. Good for a meet up or a happy hour. One of my favorite spots on U Street for a drink with friends!"

"Went last night for a night out of gay bar hopping and fun with my boyfriend and it was nice. Loved the multiple floors, DJs, and outdoor patio space. The bathroom was even clean and nice too. It wasn’t a popular night due to low crowds, but overall I was impressed with the venue and possibilities once there’s a good size crowd. Overall, I would recommend it but make sure you go on a good night where you have the energy of the crowd with you to dance and drink the night away."

"Great place. I visited in April/May for a conference and wanted to get away from the hotel. While they didn't have scotch on the ground floor, bourbon and soda did fine. Bartender was nice and pleasant. Hope to revisit the next time I'm in D.C. P.S. Nacho plate is enormous and will easily feed multiple people!"
