"One of my favorite places to eat in DC. The food and service are always terrific. And you just cannot beat the view. Today some friends and I came for brunch but usually I come only for special occasions because it’s not the least expensive place. But when I have been for birthdays and anniversaries, they go out of their way to make you feel special. I really appreciate that."

"When our server introduced their seafood, we already knew we would have something good. When our seafood tower came out, it was confirmed :) Every single piece on the plate was fresh and so tasty, the lobster salad (I couldn’t think of a better name) was amazing. On top of that, I wanted to thank our server, she was very attentive and recommended just the right wine to go with the food. Highly recommend but be mindful that it’s a pricey restaurant."

"I will start by saying the food quality was great and we enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. I couldn’t, in my right mind, recommend this establishment to friends on account of our server. I felt extremely uncomfortable here and probably would have left if I were by myself but was celebrating a friends birthday and had really looked forward to celebrating here specifically. We, a group of young professionals of color, were a party of 3 adults and 2 children. The reservation was booked noting that we were celebrating a birthday. I made it a point to remind our server when we sat. I told her we were celebrating and whose birthday it was. We were dining here for the first time and had quite a few questions about the menu. Our server took a while to come over. One of our more immediate questions was if there were any foods to accommodate to the small children we had with us. Pasta and red sauce was essentially the only option. We were told the kitchen does not modify any dishes and couldn’t do a simple side of eggs or anything of that nature. That’s fine. Children probably aren’t the target demographic. Our server, who was also a woman of color, seemed a bit impatient. I gave her grace because it was a brunch hour, albeit the restaurant did not seem incredibly busy. When asking simple questions like what drinks were included in the pre fixed brunch menu, our server was forgetful. A few times during ordering, she interrupted us to address other service staff. This is behavior I would have easily dismissed if it happened once but she did it multiple times throughout our visit. One of the more notable occurrences was her pacifying my friend, whose birthday we were celebrating, mid sentence for seemingly no reason at all as she sat our drinks on the table then told her she could continue talking after she’d completed setting them down. It was just really odd behavior. Outwardly she was nice but it did not at all seem genuine. When the dessert came out, she’d forgotten whose birthday it was. At this point, I’d reminded her more than once. I felt like our server showed us multiple times without telling us that she did not want to be serving us. I spent the entire brunch wanting to get out of her hair because I felt like we were bothering her. I tipped her 25%, that she DEFINITELY did not deserve, to remind her that the color of peoples skin does not determine their monetary value. Hopefully she will learn to be nice to her own people. I won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend dining here solely based on the way she behaved."

"Fiola Mare is a beautiful restaurant right on the water in Georgetown. Parties on the patio are limited to 4 but if you can fit, I would recommend sitting there when the weather permits. Sadly, our food and drinks were just so-so and the highlight for all of us was their donuts (lol) even after trying plenty of seafood and pasta. The service we received was surprisingly poor, particularly for a Michelin starred restaurant, but maybe brunch isn’t when they shine."
