"I enjoyed my birthday celebration. We live in the area and this was our first time dining here. The service was excellent. Our server Jai knew the menu answered our questions and we were greeted at the door and seated promptly. I had the Red Snapper and my husband had the pork chops. We both had garlic mash potatoes cream spinach and we had to try the cabbage after seeing another couple’s dish come out. Ambience was nice. We plan to come back for the Sunday brunch. Also looks like a nice happy hour spot and lots of free parking."

"After watching an IG review about this place, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is located within a residential shopping center. I made reservations online for 6:15pm, and I arrived 10 minutes early. Upon check-in, I was seated. The server came and greeted me 10 minutes later. I ordered the curry prawns for an appetizer. It took 35 minutes for 4 prawns to come out. On top of that, they did not taste good. The sauce appeared to be curry powder mixed with oil and some water. Plus, the prawns had an overwhelming fishy smell. For the main course, I ordered the escovitch red snapper. I took one bite and sent it back. The filet was dry in some parts, and the escovitch sauce tasted more or less like pickled relish. It's not the authentic Jamaican escovitch I'm used to, nowhere near it. The cream spinach and mashed potatoes were the best part of the meal. The server removed the snapper from the bill. However, there was 20% gratuity added to the bill. After looking at another review on Google, someone else posted their receipt, and gratuity wasn't on theirs. I'm not sure if this is something new or if the server took it upon herself to add gratuity. Nevertheless, this restaurant is very misleading when it comes to the authenticity of their dishes. It's overpriced and not worth revisting or recommending. There also appears to be an under staffing issue. There was only one chef, and the server had roughly 8 to 9 tables to work. This appears to be a lot since the location isn't that big inside. The server did inform me that the owners had another location in Laurel named Mad Cow. She suggested that I should try that location. But after my experience here, I would rather not. Save yourself the time and energy and dine somewhere else."

"First time at the Black Cow was a “just okay” experience. The hostess was very welcoming and polite. Our server Jay was awesome and accommodating. The ambiance of the restaurant was surprisingly underwhelming as I know this is to be an elevated, finer dining experience in comparison to the sister property. Drinks came out timely but the appetizer and entrees took long. For context, our reservation was for 7:30pm which we were on time for, appetizer came around 8:20, and entree came at 9pm. The upside is that when it cam it was hot and fresh, but the taste was just okay. Jay checked on us and made sure we were okay which I can appreciate but for those reasons plus an automatic 20% gratuity for a table of 2 … it just wasnt the best experience. I would probably visit again but definitely wouldn't be in a rush to."

"We were invited to this restaurant by some friends for dinner. Since it was Sunday, the menu was limited to Brunch. However, it didn't disappoint! I don't normally eat pork when I go out. But, I had some of the best porkchops, mashes potatoes, and gravy... tasted homemade. Everyone else enjoyed their meals also, which included french toast, shrimp and grits, and grilled snapper and grits. Their serving sizes were great. And, the service was top notch. I even had the sweet potato cheese cake for dessert. There's plenty of parking as the restaurant is in a strip mall. We would definitely go again!"

"This was my second time going for brunch my first experience was good they had a curry chicken pot pie that was to die for that they no longer serve which I cakes and all before attending the second time and was told it was still on the menu but it wasn’t even the server didn’t know if they still offered that dish. The food was ok nothing to make me want to come back again. The service was slow! The AC didn’t work and or server had to double as a bartender so she wasn’t available as much as she should have been. The decor is cute and the location is great plenty of parking. It’s worth trying at least once hopefully on a less busy weekend and you have better service. My service my first visit was excellent not this last time."
