"The food is excellent. The service is great. I ordered black tea and they served me earl grey. I asked the waiter and he said I didn't say specifically but Earl grey is also a kind of black tea so he picked it for me. I find it's odd but he was willing to change it to ceylon for me so I have nothing to complain about."
"During my visit to The Coupe DC, a place renowned for its American breakfast and pancakes, my expectations were high, especially due to the glowing reviews it had received. However, my experience was somewhat disappointing. Upon arrival, I was informed of a 35-minute wait despite several empty tables being visible. This seemed to indicate an issue not with the lack of space but rather with the service's capacity to cater to a full restaurant. The staff, though amiable and apologetic, appeared to be quite slow in their service. After a considerable wait to be seated, it took an additional 15 minutes for a server to attend to our table, which was surprising given the number of unoccupied tables in her area. The staffing level was noticeably high, yet many staff members seemed to be idly chatting instead of attending to customers. This lack of efficiency was further evident in the long wait for our drinks - the coffee and what was supposed to be hot chocolate, which regrettably turned out to be cold. As for the food, while it was acceptable, it wasn't particularly remarkable. Considering the reputation and potential of this establishment, and the evident demand from customers, it's clear that better management and staff training could significantly enhance the experience. The inefficiency of the staff alone seems to be a major barrier to realizing the restaurant's full revenue potential. Despite these issues, I found the ambiance of The Coupe DC to be quite appealing. I believe that with some management improvements and a focus on staff efficiency, this place could truly live up to its potential. I remain optimistic and look forward to returning in the future to witness any progress made."
"Visiting DC, we wanted a cool place to have brunch, and The Coupe seemed to fit the bill. Inside it's really nicely designed: it's the kind of place you could sit in all day and just get work done. It's also quite quiet. But we were there fit brunch, so let's get to the review. I had shrimp and grits. For some reason, though it's not listed that way on the menu, it comes with crumbled chorizo, which I only realized when another person in my party noticed it in her huevos rancheros. The portion of shrimp over grits is entirely too small. Another person in our party wanted to order the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup, which they only start to serve at 11am... it was 10:40 and a huge ordeal to navigate those 20 minutes to place the order, and even though the waiter said he had put it in, it took nearly half an hour to come. Everybody enjoyed the meal in general, though."
"A decent place for Sunday brunch with friends. Be prepared for a bit of a wait. The hash brown squares were unique and delicious but didn’t quite hit the spot like diner hash browns do. The crab dip came with soggy chips that were hard to chew. The dip wasn’t that great either. My favorite was the black coffee and my over easy eggs."
