Reviews of Thurston Griggs Trail
"I heard this Trail was easy to moderate. More like easy for a few feet & hard the rest of the way. A couple passed me going to the overlook (spectacular view) and on the return trip, he was giving her a piggy back ride over the rocks. It is extremely rocky. Carry plenty of water and hiking poles."
"One of my absolute favorite trails. Mostly quiet with a nice camping spot dedicated to Pogo(make sure you read his story at the trailhead). So much greenery and a few small stream crossings. This brings you to Black Rock Cliffs which is an incredible view."
"Great trail, it connects to both Black Rock, Annapolis Rock viewpoints off the Appalachian Tr. Its very rocky and mostly uphill so be prepared for that, although its short in length, mostly elevation gain. There is a nice small stream for ambience with a few crossing sections. Trail can be wet, muddy, mixed, in winter-spring conditions. I have been when it's crowded during summer months and only a handful of people, dogs, earlier in the year. If you're solo and want a challenging hike, jog, it's a nice place to go with a view."
"Great hike. There are a lot of trails that intersect so make sure you have a picture of the map. It's quite uphill for awhile there, just keep going! It's beautiful & 100% worth the struggle. You have to cross the creek 3-4 times keep that in mind while picking shoes. I loved my time here, I'l be coming back."
"Really cool hike up the mountain. It's a bit rocky and a little steep in places. My kids loved it (youngest 7).You may have some difficulty if you're not used to hiking. The only restroom is an old dilapidated outhouse, so ladies go before you head up. The view at the top is amazing, if it a clear day. Still good if not."
