"This is the 6th or 7th time the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night with no real emergency. This is ridiculous. None of the TVs in the common room works how they should and the amenities are always broken. Movie theatre room does not have hdmi sound capabilities and shuts off randomly in the middle of usage. Not sure why we still keep paying for this place. It's also getting overcrowded. They need to do something about this. It's been 2 years and this place keeps going downhill."

"My recent stay at the shirley has left me utterly disappointed and disheartened, prompting me to share my experience to warn potential residents. Unfortunately, my time here has been marred by issues ranging from racist treatment to unprofessional behavior from the leasing office staff, making this place an absolute nightmare. From the very beginning, the leasing office staff displayed a level of incompetence and indifference that was truly shocking. It became evident that the staff was not only unhelpful but also perpetuated an environment that condoned discriminatory behavior. I experienced firsthand the distressing and unacceptable racist treatment that no resident should ever have to endure. The lack of accountability from the management regarding such incidents is deeply troubling and indicative of a pervasive problem. Moreover, the amenities promised at the shirley turned out to be nothing more than empty promises. Despite the steep costs associated with living here, I found myself unable to use any of the amenities due to constant maintenance issues and the leasing office's apparent lack of interest in resolving these problems. It's disheartening to pay a premium for a living space that doesn't deliver on its advertised features. The overall cost of living at the shirley is simply not justified by the subpar living conditions and the complete disregard for residents' well-being. From my experience, I strongly advise prospective tenants to explore other options and think twice before considering the shirley as their next home. It's crucial to prioritize a living environment that values its residents and treats them with respect – qualities that are glaringly absent at this establishment."

"The Shirley is a great place to live! From the moment we walked in we felt like this was . Ashlee Elliot's outstanding customer service is what made us "say yes to the address"! The leasing office is very welcoming & responsive. Maria always welcomes you with a smile and is eager to answer any questions you have. The maintenience staff is always quick & friendly. The cleaning staff keeps the building looking and smelling great. Commute to DC, Annapolis or Baltimore. Nearby shopping: Arundel Mills, Waugh Chapel, Walgreens, Giant, CVS, gas stations & convenience stores. The Hideaway restaurant is a local favorite. The crab dip is delicious!! Parking on every floor, this is so convenient, especially on those rainy/cold days or after a busy day of shopping. Ammenties for business & fun! I love the Willy Wonka pinball machine. So much to enjoy under one roof! We moved from a single family home (20+ years). We love living at The Shirley!!"

"I loveeee the Shirley. The staff is super nice and really make sure to take care of any issues you have. I’ve lived here for a few years and don’t plan on moving until I buy! If you’re looking for a beautiful community with great staff down to the maintenance men! The Shirley is the perfect place for you!"

"It has taken me a while to write this review, as I did not feel compelled until now seeing the difference I am experiencing as a resident of The Shirley. How do I begin...I have been a resident of The Shirley for 2 years. When I moved in the initial management did not foster a environment of wanting to have positive resident engagement. I have seen management "come and go", however the current management team lead by Ashley Prince has not only turned the community around for the positive, but also through activities and a desire to engage with tenants has made "The Shirley" feel more like a "home". I have had the pleasure of not only witnessing the engagement of management with tenants, by the gestures of "simple hellos" to taking time even after hours to talk with tenants and address their concerns; something that does happen in rental communities. It is refreshing to walk around the community and management knows you by name. From being one of the first tenants of "The Shirley" based upon prior experience, I am sure Ashely arrived into a challenging environment where she had to utilize her experience to not only learn a new community, invoke positive change but most importantly, gain the confidence of tenants. I have seen this happen successfully through activities and daily management engagement. And again based upon my experience of being one of the first tenants, I would say this positive change is due to Ashley Prince's leadership. And for all that she has done in a very short period of time, I am excited for what is to come for current and future residents. As current and future residents will benefit from Ashley's leadership, not just because of her responsibilities and duties, but more importantly because she cares for the community and it's residents. A rental community can only be as good as it's management team and with Ashley as the leader of that team, I will say "The Shirley" finally deserves 5(+) stars all the way around!"
