"I had such an amazing time here. I love all the African American history and greatness within their walls. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. I love the music selections. The DC Tapwater is so good. It tastes like Cotton Candy with liquor on ice! Amazing! The firecracker shrimp is so good, I had to order two. Lol! And the turkey burger…… so juicy and flavorful. It tastes like the real thing! I will definitely be back and I look forward to trying more items off of the menu!"

"Very cool place! I like that they encourage folks to hang out, with an upstairs and downstairs (plenty of room), and books available. Interesting! The food was very good and the selections of breakfast, lunch, or entree cover many bases! Service was excellent. Bathrooms were clean! Would return, absolutely. :)"

"This my second time going the nthis very upbeat restaurant. The decor is lovely, very spacious two level restaurant with a great book shop area. The menu is very limiting but the choices are solid. Has the nachos both times and they rocked. Husband had the Cubano and said it was tasty. Good size portions. Would love to try their brunch menu. Service was seriously slow, that put me off a bit considering it wasn't very busy at all. Ok parking."

"My friend took us to this very happening kind of a vibe place. We were visiting MD. so this restaurant it’s a Little loud place. kids loved it a lot. They have little library corner as well. food was on point. we ordered Chicken paninis sandwich , nacho chips, wings , coffee, and kids pasta. They do have halal option for wings n sandwich. Staff was very attentive. it was quite a busy place . I believe we went Friday night. all in all fun place !"

"First time visiting Busboys and Poets. We went for brunch. At first, service was slow. No one came to our table to serve us. I believe I may have spoken to a manager who had a server sent right over to our table. She then came back to ask us if the server was taking care of us. She, the manager, was very professional, and I appreciated her customer service. We ended up with Jordan being our waitress. What a breath of fresh air. She kept a smile on her face and was so pleasant. We were a party of five, and a couple of items had to be changed, which were no fault of hers. She was very patient with us and apologized for having to change one of our orders. Whatever y'all have to do to keep her, please do it. All servers should be as attentive, kind, and patient as she was with us. Now to the food. Everything was really good. Pancakes were fluffy, and blueberries were fresh. Chicken sausages were really good. I have been to restaurants where that type of sausage isn't good but not here. The chicken panini was excellent, and Caesar salad had just the right amount of dressing. The French toast, grilled cheese sandwich, and chicken omelet were great as well. It didn't take long for the food to be prepared as well. They seem to have other good choices, so I look forward to going back soon. Keep up the good work, staff. Y'all have a winner here."
