"I hadn’t purchased a car 20 years. So I did a lot of research on Carfax and read reviews on this dealership. I felt I was ready to address the issues if they came up. The best part of my experience was dealing with the new car salesman, Mohammed Al Matoq and the sales manager, Tim Morgan at the Koons Ford dealership even though the car was listed online to be at Koons Mazda. Mo and Tim provided me with great customer service. The downside of my experience is the lack of transparency about the car warranty that was not posted on the window sticker that is required by law. The timeline from when I walked into the dealership to driving out with the car was 8 hours. Needless to say, in 2023 that it takes that long to purchase a car is ABSURD. I was already pre-approved from the financing department the day before to avoid this arduous wait time. There was no transparency regarding the condition of the vehicle. It was not until I purchased the car and I took it to my window tinting technician who showed me that the left side of the car had been recently painted: Lower trim was bent, poor paint job on the two left doors which have scratches on the end—I feel it every time I close the doors, the left rear rim had scratches and the touch up rim paint that was applied eventually came off a few weeks later. There is no way that the dealership did not know about it. Now it will cost me $1,000+ to make these repairs. Lastly is the lack of communication is a huge problem. At the outset of the transaction, they quoted me a higher price for the car because of DC’s tags, title, and taxes. I called them 35 days to inquire about my new tags and they said they were running behind. I called them 10 days later as we are coming on the holidays. Then a few days before the 60 day temporary tags expiration date, they tell me I need to get a DC vehicle inspection and that I owe them another $735 because Koons accidentally ran the car with Maryland tag fees instead of DC tag fees. Needless to say I was not paying for their mistake. It was resolved and I received my tags before the expiration date. I will NEVER do business with the Koons brand again. BEWARE! Shop at your own risk!"

"After having tucked a few months of ownership under my belt, I’d like to take a moment to relay to others my truly positive purchase experience with a number of folks at Koons Motors in Silver Spring, MD. And specifically & happily I’d like to give a hearty, “Thank you!” to Lonny Baxter for earning my business every step of the way! Back in early September of this year, Lonny promptly reached out to me after my online inquiry about a 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty DRW Lariat on their lot. Having scheduled a test drive for the following day, I headed up to Maryland that morning from my horse farm in Virginia. Lonny called me around an hour into my drive, informing me that the dealership wanted to complete a factory TSB regarding the lower oil pan. Apologetic to a fault, Lonny was sorry to learn I was already well on my way, but asked me to understand that the service technician wanted to assure the truck was mechanically sound for my test drive. But as the TSB was to specifically replace the lower oil pan gasket, the new sealant gasket would need to cure for 24 hours…making my impending test drive for that day impossible. Pulling off the road to further discuss & understand the scope of the TSB, Lonny put me in direct contact with the service technician working on the F-350. And the technician explained over the phone the nature of this work, and further, explained that he was additionally replacing/resealing the upper oil pan at the same time. Further, this same work assured a fresh oil change on the F-350’s 7.3L Powerstroke, just shy of 70K miles on its odometer. Unfortunately a couple of upcoming family obligations meant I wasn’t going to be in a position to return to Maryland a day or two later for a test drive. However, Lonny asked that I allow him to talk all of this over with his manager. Lonny called me back shortly thereafter, offering to personally drive the F-350 down to my horse farm the following day, at a time convenient to me, to conduct the test drive. WOW! To me, this is a mark of true customer service! With other assurances ironed out with Koons upper management, I approved their willingness to drive the truck down to me for a test drive. Lonny arrived on my farm driving the F-350 early the following afternoon. Along with him, Lonny had a ‘follow car’ make the trip down, being driven by Lonny’s mentor (who was also the lead fleet sales manager). This arrangement proved extra convenient for me given that Lonny’s mentor knew the history of this one-owner F-350, given he’d conducted its initial fleet sale just a few years back. The test drive went superb, proving much more comfortable for me to conduct over my own familiar backroads & highways! And that, along with all of my questions being thoroughly answered, I completed my purchase at the end of my test drive, along with a handshake and a few signatures! Thank you again Lonny! And thanks again to everyone else at Koons that helped make this a truly memorable and pleasant purchase! What a great team at Koons Motors in Silver Spring, MD!"
