"When you first walk in to Winooski High School, you are met by the overwhelming smell of body odor and musty clothes due to the school neglecting to enforce a personal hygiene rule throughout the school. Winooski High School has a large foreign population of students who are integrated into mainstream classes, some not speaking and some with no cultural adaptation. This creates an extremely difficult learning environment for student and faculty alike, often leading to inappropriate situations and negative confrontations between students. Many students show no desire to learn because of the distance and inequality some teachers present. The authority there is organized less around fixing issues, and more around defusing a situation for the time-being. Although there are some teachers I hold near and dear to my heart and consider good friends, some of the staff make it clear that they do not wish to develop a relationship with the students and focus more on getting the job done. Consequently, many of the students at Winooski who come from less than pleasant backgrounds show as much passion in their school work as some of the clueless and ignorant staff members show in their teaching. Although the outcome of your high school career may be far from perfect, a reliable source of help and guidance is Emmy Charon and Karen Greene. With their support you can expect a less painful high school experience. Overall, Winooski High School should not be pursued in the hopes of an ideal future or high school experience, but if there is no other option then it would be wise to look into the technical programs that Winooski has to offer, at Burlington and Essex high school."
