"The Lighthouse Restaurant and Lounge is a hidden gem in the Burlington area. It’s stately appearance gives off a lofty vibe but once you get in the door, the host and hostess are there to make things happen for you. I like a restaurant that has a dedicated bar, by that I mean the bar is sectioned off you know the kind where people belly up and let the liquor do a little bit of the talking. It’s so much better than those restaurants that build the dining area around the bar, Olive Garden seems to do that. Anyway my wife and I visited recently, more than once and I made way for the bar and she gave a pull on my arm to remind me that we were dining there. She had fish and chips and Boy Howdy were those New England fish served up right. Kinda crispy and then the meaty tenderness of a light tasting fish. I had the Duck Wing! Great selection! The Duck Wing came lightly covered on an Orange sauce - there were lots of interesting taste in that plate. Some “slide dancing” on the palate of my tongue if you will, complimented by a great mouth-feel and then maybe a peripheral aftertaste that sent a message to my fork hand to shovel another load into my mouth. I was glad to order what I did. My wife was glad to order what she did. So enthralled was I with the party going on in my mouth that I forgot the Lighthouse had a bar. Vermont friendliness was also a staple of our visits- I’m a devout Rock and Roller and the host picked up on that - he regaled me with a few concerts he’d been to and really made us feel welcome. The Lighthouse is a beacon on Vermont dining. Don’t miss the chance to drop by."
"The weather was lousy, poor visibility, so we took a chance because it was the closest to our hotel, against our better judgement, from the reviews. The calamari app was “fast food caliber”.My plate was warm but the food was barely warm. My husbands steak was full of gristle, couldn’t chew, and the potatoes lousy. There was no salad bar. When we kindly told the waitress our concerns, she said if we told her sooner, she could have “fixed” it. They made no adjustment. The reviews are accurate, they have serious issues and do not try to make things right. It’s a holiday weekend and the restaurant was not busy. Very disappointed and will not return or recommend."
"The Lighthouse was a great restaurant! Called to make a reservation even though the restaurant was right next to the hotel me and my girlfriend were staying at. The service was great and the food was even better! I ordered a Vermont Mule while my girlfriend ordered a glass of Clos du Bois Chardonnay - both of which were delicious! Overall an awesome restaurant with great food and friendly staff!"
"The poutine was great ! The salmon: a dream come true ! Loved the spicey crust and how soft and tasty it was !!!"
"We had a dinner at lighthouse restaurant during Christmas holidays. Very nice place, beautifully decorated for holidays. Portions are large. Food is solid good. Well prepared steak and wild mushrooms were a win. If you are too picky maybe a bit salty but overall, still very well done. We had fried calamari for appetizers, steak and shrimp ravioli finished with pecan cheesecake. Coupled with a glass of vine we ended up with 96$ bill that is decent for a nice dinner. Definitely 5 stars for a comfort good food."
