About the Business
Tucker & French Family Forest - Gate 2 - SELT is a stunning park and tourist attraction located at 34 Marshall Road in Kingston, New Hampshire, United States. This institution was established in August 2010 when the Tucker and French families completed the conservation of their 563 acres of forestland and wetlands in Kingston, Danville, and Brentwood. The properties boast a high co-occurrence of natural resource values, including diverse wetlands, vernal pools, emergent marshes, and forested wetlands, as well as frontage on the Little River. Visitors can enjoy outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, skiing, fishing, and hunting in this beautiful natural setting.
The Tucker Forest, part of the conservation effort, was inherited by brothers Bill, John, and George Tucker from their parents, Moses and Ellen. The forest includes extensive frontage on Tucker Road and features a large wetlands complex that provides habitat for waterfowl and turtle species. The second property acquired was owned by Meadowsend Timberlands Limited Partnership, a forest products business owned by the French family. The Frenches have a long-standing commitment to land conservation and were eager to preserve the rural qualities of Rockingham County.
The Tucker & French Family Forest features a diverse mix of upland forests, shrublands, and wetlands, with Appalachian oak/pine forests, early successional habitats, and extensive wetlands. The properties also include over 2.5 miles of shoreline on the Little River, providing a picturesque setting for visitors to explore and enjoy. The institution is dedicated to wildlife habitat preservation, compatible recreation, and sustainable forestry practices.
For those interested in conserving their own land, SELT offers a helpful guide called "Conserving Your Land: Options for New Hampshire Landowners." This booklet provides concise information on conservation outcomes and can be requested for free from SELT or accessed online. Visit Tucker & French Family Forest - Gate 2 - SELT to experience the beauty and conservation efforts of this unique natural area.

"The trails were wide and well-maintained. Would be buggy in warmer weather. Easy for kids. Semi-stroller friendly - a couple of the bridges weren't wide enough for it and we had to lift it over, which would be more difficult in wetter weather. Small parking lot."
"Great set of trails and very dog friendly"
"Great little spot for taking a 6 mile or anywhere in between walks. There is plenty of water for our fur friends to cool off and swim. Also, seats and view stations if you want to sit and take a break. Trails are pretty easy to follow and are available on Alltrails. Parking spot is a tad small, but on street parking is an option. Looks like there are a few other parking spots if you look on the map of the area."
"My husband and I love walking the trails there. It's so peaceful and the trails are easy to navigate."
