"In my 30's, I injured my back and have, over the years, visited several physical therapists. The treatments were similar: leg exercises, TENS muscle stimulator, heating pad, and then leave. When I arrived at the Oceanside Physical Therapy office in Dover, I walked in with a cane and chronic pain, which had become part of my life at 72, and was now accepting using a 4-wheel walker with brakes. I had it in the trunk of my car for those long walks in stores. I met Alyssa MacLeod, PT, and I walked out of my first session without my cane, and my pain level reduced considerably. She is an exceptional practitioner. She reads your body and movements and studies them. Exercise routines are always different. You begin to have a relationship with your body that you feared because pain ruled you. She teaches you how pain creates these limitations that alter your walk and gate. Physical therapists have yet to explain the purpose of each exercise routine to me. Alyssa is different. On one exercise, she inserted her finger into my hip socket to feel for a muscle, then took my hand, inserted my finger on the spot, and explained why the move needed to be done in this fashion to help strengthen my leg. I now understand and pay attention to my body movements because of her advice. I am grateful that Alyssa takes the time to email me a review of the session and what exercise I need to incorporate into my routine. I know Google only allows five stars, but Alyssa should have her own constellation of stars. That's how great she has been in helping me."
