"An agent placed with me People's Trust in mid-Nov. They approved me, I paid for the policy in full & a few days later they decided I didn't meet their lofty standards & "cancelled" my coverage. It never took effect because it was approved & cancelled 3 weeks before my current policy expired. One reason was they claimed my metal roof was installed on top of the existing roof, calling it a "reroof." I was pretty sure that wasn't the case but it was back in 2012 so I wasn't prepared to dispute it. I spoke to a friend on Friday who is active in my community & she said Marion County, FL uses the term "reroof" for a NEW roof where the existing roof is torn off. They use the term "roof-over" when a new roof is installed on top of the existing roof. I went through my records & found my contract with the roofer. It clearly says they tore off the existing roof, replaced any bad wood (& then installed the new metal roof). I looked on the County Permit site & saw my friend was correct about the terms they use. I found other insurance but I can only imagine how many other people are screwed over by the confusion in terms."

"It's difficult to do what I'm doing, because with more than 5 years of providing services, I've always recommended PTI to friends. But now, because of a situation I witnessed inside the office and the poor service from the employee, I felt insecure about continuing to work with them, I never needed to activate my car insurance but I realized that it would be a problem if I ever needed it. I changed insurance companies this Monday, without an intermediary (agent) and I don't know why they don't answer me to cancel the insurance I contracted through them. "What company insures a vehicle without the policy holder’s authorization? PTI does. Then proceeds to tell me to figure my problems out with my family. Illegal doings, sells higher insurance saying it “won’t cover if you’re out of state” to people who don’t know much about insurance, and poor customer service. Will be filing with BBB."
