"My professional background is in education and psychology. Except for one professor, the background of the rest was strictly in theology or related to the church. I felt I couldn’t relate, and their teaching became foreign for me, like if the theology field was unfamiliar with modern society. I withdrew from the University, and I realize that was the best decision. Research from Pew in 2016 found that New England is the leading irreligious region in the United States, and I noticed that in Seminary. Pastors are becoming more activists than anything else because the soul salvation business is gone except for people from older generations. Everyone has different goals, but you don’t need to burn the midnight oil in Seminary to end up as an activist."
