"It’s a good school. They push you to do your work, and if you don’t try, you grades will definitely reflect that. They have lots of sports and events. The only thing I’m starting to notice as a new student is that amongst all the students, you have to be white with blonde hair, and a extrovert just to be popular or have a lot of friends. Some teachers even treat kids different just because if there skin color. It doesn’t happen very often but I definitely see it."
"I get bullied for my last name but other than that I love it. My best friend Devon Neil(they/them) gets me through the day."
"Boston Latin Academy is known for their rigorous academics and their strive for excellence in all students. However, the atmosphere due to the makeup of the student body, can be very toxic at times due to adolescents incapability of understanding, and accepting one another. I believe there is hope for BLA's improving in atmosphere and mood. But it begins with honesty, generosity, and respect. And most of the teachers there teach wonderfully, however it is my personal opinion (me being a student) that certain teachers should be revised by administration for their teaching methods, tone towards students, and the overall energy they possess and express throughout the school day."
"B.L.A is a great school but there are some horrible classes with horrible teachers. In Room 211 the Latin teacher is very rude and yell constantly at the students even if they don't do anything wrong. For example i have a hard time paying attention and a little difficulty listening i ask her what did she says and, you know what she says more like yell but she said WERE YOU LISTENING. I'm like i hate you so much woman. Now on to my next complaint of room 301 and its teacher, i had a advisory there so i'm talking to my friend quietly like nope one is bothered by it probably couldn't hear us and she says your talking to much and i'm like in my head but why do you care and like i had work to do i was doing it while talking and she moved me to another table and i was all alone like really did our conversation bother you that much. So After i did my math homework i went to the table i originally was at asked a different friend to see if my homework was right and we had a test on Friday that had this on it and you know what she said you didn't EARN THE RIGHT TO DO THAT, I'm like really. So guess how i did on my math test i got a god dang 63 a freaking 63, hmm i wonder why. If there wasn't some of these horrible teachers i would do 4/5 in the end i just dabbed on them haters and there are also a lot of memes. So if you get into B.L.A and go to the 8th grade don't hope to get in any of these classes if you do god bless you."
"I got to school here and sometimes I really love it and sometimes I hate it. PROS -It is SUPER diverse! Honestly it is beautiful how we can all coexist. At Least for the most part, sometimes racist comments can be thrown but what school doesn't have that. -Opportunity at this school is so endless. You can thrive if you try hard enough. We have an Arabic program and that so awesome!! - Love and Support from your teachers. Most teachers are very kind and loving, they all teach wonderfully. -HEADMASTER!! Super awesome man, he knows how to connect and support his students. Honestly he is the best! CONS!!! -TEST! TEST! TEST! The amount of testing literally kills me every day. I sometimes want to break down crying with all the stress given to me. I really hate testing and sometimes I can just stare at a paper and go blank and it really sucks because testing is part of this school. -HOMEWORK!! You may be thinking homework cant be all that bad, YOU THOUGHT WRONG! We have Seven periods so around 6-7 classes. Each day you are given homework and each class gives on average 1 hour of homework. SIX HOURS OF HOMEWORK everyday. Calculating sports, extracurriculars and a job I get home at 5 making the EARLIEST I go to sleep is 11. But projects take longer. But essays take longer so on average I sleep 3 hours each night. -ADMIN: So we just got rid of our old admin (administrators) but now we have a new "regime" sometimes it really feels like prison or North Korea. Dictatorship sucks. - FOOD!! Seriously this is all public schools but the food... At this rate im going to be diagnosed with bulimia. But when the oranges are cubed shaped from them being smooshed together, it sucks. And whats up with the whole grain? Its cardboard. So this school had its ups and downs but I loved it for the most part. My friends are all smart and kind. I would say bullying is minimal because at the end of the day we cant hate each other due to differences because in school we are taught that it okay to be different."
