"Love this curriculum! It's easy to adjust as needed but comprehensive enough that I don't feel like I need to supplement much at all. Would absolutely recommend to anyone considering it!"
"Love this curriculum! I originally bought it because it was rated excellent for boys who need more hands on learning experiences, and after our oldest getting so bored in public school/charter school, this curriculum was a breath of fresh air and freedom. It's great for girls, too, although I do add supplemental worksheets and math for my daughter since she actually asks for more school work to do! But I love that it covers everything that's necessary... I can always add more if the child needs it or wants it, but having an excellent educational base gives me that assurance that they're learning well and at their grade level - everything is covered. Also, I love how Oak Meadow provides all the readers, arts and crafts, science labs and books for their supplemental reading. This fact alone makes homeschooling multiple grade levels so much easier. And they simply designed it all so well. Every topic is thoughtfully laid out and I actually get inspired when I teach them, which of course just makes overall homeschooling so much easier when everyone is enjoying it (including the teacher!). 3 out of 4 kids have used it and I can't wait to use it with our 4th once he's old enough!"
"We used 6th grade. The books and lessons were excellent and far more engaging than the computer- based options. Made it easy for the parents and appropriately challenging for my son. He liked it too and stayed with it; that alone is a success."
"I cannot recommend Oak Meadow’s curriculum highly enough! This is our seventh year with them, and each year has been absolutely wonderful. Every year I am so pleased with how smoothly the grades work alongside each other; which I have come to appreciate more and more as we are now working with three different grades in our homeschool. The work is flexible and accommodating, while always maintaining a challenge and interest; it is a beautiful balance. Oak Meadow truly fosters an environment that inspires curiosity and creativity, and presents concepts in such a thoughtful way that clearly resonates within the student at a deep level of understanding. I honestly marvel at the intention and ease that comes through in Oak Meadow’s curriculum. I feel such confidence in the education that I am able to share with my children! While we haven’t yet needed to utilize their support staff, they make themselves available for all levels of assistance, teacher or student, and they also touch base to make sure that all feels it is running smoothly and to help with any questions. I feel so incredibly lucky to have found them. 10/10!"
"We have loved the Oak Meadow school and curriculum. Two of my children completed 5th - 9th grade with Oak Meadow. It is challenging, but it provides students with a road map of HOW to learn, and keeps them engaged in the process of inquiry. Currently, my youngest is working on Oak Meadow 7 as an independent student, it has been a really great year for him. He has been doing Oak Meadow since 2nd grade. We approach his final year with a bit of sadness. Overall, the curriculum is strongly geared toward meeting children where they are emotionally, psychologically and developmentally. In the early years there is a nice emphasis on project work and getting outside to discover the world around the student. Some of the best aspects of the Steiner Pedagogy, like a gentle approach to reading, strong foundations in basic math before moving on to more complex work and taking time to synthesize what is read before doing work on it are retained in this curriculum for primary and middle school. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the High School program. Here, the school becomes very focused on students completing an extraordinary amount of work, in a short time, with very little guidance. 36 lessons are due over 40 weeks so if you need or want extra time to study, that isn't available.Teachers review what has been completed every two weeks, but don't tend to offer assistance going forward. There is far too much pressure on students to get "perfect" grades and turn in huge volumes of work. Since enrolling in the school costs as much as a private school, and the overall experience was really pretty rough, we withdrew our students from the enrollment."
