Reviews
"Great tour, learned alot about life at that time and the relationships in the Moffatt Ladd home. To see the places where the slaves slept and worked was difficult."
"A wonderfully restored house with so much history. Being new to New England, we loved the glimpse into history that our guide gave us. The hand carved wood details and wallpaper that doesn't repeat were some of my favorite features original to the house. The gardens are gorgeous and invite you to just curl up under a tree and never leave. I was fascinated by the pigeon holes. You must ask about them if you go your if for a surprise. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to see a bit of the past."
"I visited the Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden back in September during my three-day trip to Portsmouth. This was a fun tour with a highly knowledgeable guide, although the tour ran a bit long due to her enthusiasm. Plan for about ninety minutes to take the full tour and explore the gardens. The house has a great gift shop with souvenirs for every price point, along with a beautifully designed website, and an online shop. This is a must-see for history buffs and families looking to learn more about American history, along with photographers who love furniture, wallpaper, and architectural features."
"Add to your stops! We enjoyed the Moffatt-Ladd House more than we anticipated! The docent led tour was amazing, packed with stories, points of history and specific knowledge on the different families and generations who lived here. Come with your mind open and ready to learn about the home William Whipple, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence lived in - it's a gem in American History. Our total for entry was $36, we're seniors!"
