"I had a similar experience to another reviewer. We first visited the show room in August, and I took a day off of work in September in order to meet the Fireplace folks at our house for measurements/inspection. I was told I’d hear back the next day with an estimate, but needed to call and email multiple times—and eventually stop by the store—to get a response. Came up with a plan, and begged and begged for an installation date which they hesitated to give me. I asked multiple times (kindly) if maybe they didn’t want the job since they weren’t getting back to me. I couldn’t understand it. They assured me they did want the job, and finally booked an installation date for late November. The installation date came, they showed up and said it was too windy to do the installation. Winds were blowing at 5mph. It was not especially windy, and I worried that we might not get a less-windy day, but I trusted them to know what they were doing. Rebooked the installation for 3 weeks later. They called the morning of the new date to say they couldn’t come because of the snow and ice on the roof. I went outside and there was NO snow or ice on the roof. The ground was soft. Nothing is wet or slippery. Zero wind. I took a video to send them to show the conditions and told them I really thought if they were here, they’d agree that these conditions are as good as it gets, especially for winter. But Doug (fireplace store dude) held firm, saying it was his call. I asked again if maybe they didn’t want the job, and Doug finally admitted that he didn’t. But now it’s late December. I wish I had run the other direction as soon as they were dragging their feet about booking back in September. We had a positive experience with the Fireplace in the past, but it seems like maybe Doug isn’t up for the job anymore. I don’t want him to do anything that doesn’t feel safe to him, but maybe it’s time to hire some new, younger, more nimble installers? If you need a chimney liner or the job will require roof access, don’t waste your time with this place. GO ELSEWHERE. "Exceptional service and value! We needed to have the blower motor replaced on our 10 + year old Harmon insert. The mounting screws were badly rusted, and removing/replacing the motor was an extremely difficult job. The guys came and did this on Christmas Eve, and worked their tails off getting it done! Great service at a very reasonable rate! I highly recommend them!"
"We had visited The Fireplace Showroom in Whately, MA.earlier this year. They have an excellent showroom. Many fireplaces and heating units were on display. The staff was excellent, courteous, and very knowledgeable. After the visit, we decided to order a fireplace. Throughout the entire purchase from start to finish Wendy in customer service was very helpful in answering all of my questions. The install went very smooth with completion in a just few hours. I am very pleased with the finished product, and in the decision to choose The Fireplace in Whately for our home improvement. I would highly recommend them."
"My fireplace was installed about 3 years ago. Maybe 4. I was having issues. Made a phone call, set up an appointment with Chad, and today he arrived, fixed the problem and made me very, very happy. He showed up with many parts, he wasn’t sure what I needed, pinpointed the issue, made the repair, cleaned up and on his way in 90 minutes. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, and shared info about the fireplace I wasn’t aware of. All around 5 STAR service."
