Brookside Walk + Train
About the Business
Brookside Walk Train is a dog training and walking institution located at 3385 Washington Street in Boston, Massachusetts. We offer balanced and effective dog training sessions at our Jamaica Plain facility, as well as structured walks in Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, Roslindale, Dedham, and Chestnut Hill. Our team specializes in puppy development, aggressive dog rehabilitation, and behavior modification.
We believe in a balanced, fair, and motivating approach to dog training that is also fun for both the dogs and their handlers. Our trainers work closely with each individual dog and handler to strengthen their relationship and address any behavior issues. Our team is highly trained and continues to learn from seminars hosted by renowned trainers from around the world.
In addition to training services, we also offer dog walking trips using TimeToPet for scheduling. Our walkers are trained to think like trainers, ensuring the safety and well-being of each dog in their care. Please note that boarding services are only available for clients already receiving other Brookside services.
We have upcoming events such as Achieving Real World Obedience with Blake Rodriguez on October 2nd – 4th. Our walking services cover JP, Roslindale, West Roxbury, Chestnut Hill, and East Dedham. "My pup Titan loves his time at Brookside! Before he went through his training at Brookside he was so anxious on his walks. And his reactivity made it difficult for me to manage him on the leash. After his time with Dinyee, he is like a different dog on his walks. He is so much more confident. And I can finally enjoy talking him on walks. He adores his trainers Dinyee and Ruby! I would highly recommend Brookside for any pups but particularly for those that struggle with reactivity."
"Brookside has been an absolute life saver for our reactive pup and an excellent resource for us as first time pet owners, we don't know where we'd be without them! After we rescued our beloved, but admittedly behaviorally-challenged pup, we realized that we had bitten off a little more than we could chew. With a past bite history, she had started to show clear signs of aggression towards other dogs and strangers with us, and after trying our luck with a few different trainers in the area, we were at our wits end. After being unsure of what to do next, we reached out to Brookside. Dinyee and Rubbie patiently worked with us and gave us a new lease on life as pet owners, helping us to understand what had to be done in order to turn things around. What we learned through the foundations program gave us the skills, confidence and knowledge as handlers that we needed, and for that we are very grateful. Brookside will be your last stop for all training needs!"
"We have been happy customers of Brookside walk and train for 9 years! Dinyee is a fantastic trainer and fundamentally understands dog behavior. She centers on communication and structure for our dogs; this has helped keep our dogs calm and less anxious. She has helped our family with approaches to use at home to build those skills. We starting with training for our rescue dog and now for our new puppy. With both dogs we learned so much and this continues to improve everyones quality of life! We also use Brookside Walk +Train for daycare and boarding. Both services keep our dogs environment consistent and are really convenient!"
"OMG when I tell you that Dinyee and her team changed out lives- I am telling the honest truth We brought our terrier rescue who is almost 10 years old to the 5-week foundations class and he is a new dog. He went from being on Prozac and very anxious to a quiet and calm dog. We are all working hard but the foundation has been set and we could not be happier. I would recommend this team to anyone with a puppy or an old guy like Brody."
"Brookside took our dog from being afraid of everything to an almost perfectly trained and confident pup. We chose them for training because we knew he’d have continuous, structured exposure to other dogs; we loved the ongoing communal aspect of the business, with monthly training maintenance sessions, daycare, and boarding; and because most of the intensive trainings in the area required lengthy boarding, and we wanted to be with our dog in the evenings. Our dog was adopted from KY and afraid of other dogs, difficult to take on walks, and afraid and growling around some people. After the 8 week daytime training last summer, he had a great heel and wonderful recall that allows us to go on hikes off leash, but most importantly, he (and we!) learned structure that makes us confident that he knows that we are in control and that we can teach him anything. It’s a joy to have a dog that we can take anywhere and know that he will behave well. Do not expect frills from Brookside - you will not get daily updates (in fact, the human training happens after the dog training, which was hard for us but best in the long run!), there are no monitoring cameras or pics (although we are elated when he gets a cameo on the Instagram), and the owner will tell it to you how it is without sugar coating. What you do get is amazing training, a responsive staff, and a whole ecosystem of dog services (we even got a house call to help with desensitizing our dog to our cat). We love Brookside enough to drive from Southie to keep our dog in daycare once a week a year later. It’s a great place that has done wonders for us and our dog."
